Question about Cars & Trucks
Either the pump relay is not working right, or the check valve in the pump is letting fuel drain back into the tank when you turn the engine off.
You would check the pump relay to see if it is getting a ground signal from the computer when you first turn the key on, then look at base fuel pressure with a gauge if necessary.

IF U HAVE A BAD FUEL PUMP OR A FUEL
FILTER BUT THE FUEL PUMP BAD BECAUSE OF THE FILTER MORE THAN LIKELY SO I WOULD REPLACE BOTH IF THE PRESSURE IS NOT BETWEEN 45 PSI AND 55 PSI. GOOD LUCK CHEAPEST PLACE FOR A PUMP AND FILTER IS ADVANCE AUTO PARTS JUST REPLACED THE ONE IN MY TAHOE.

the regulator is bad or clogged fuel screen or just leaking/loosing fuel prime. try to key it up a few times to build prime before starting. no matter u need to replace the pump if its not holding 55psi at the fuel rail.

Testimonial: "Thanks for your reply. I was leaning toward replacing the fuel pump as well so thank you for the added assurance. Will try this now. Thanks! Diane"
You may have a problem with the contacts in the ignition switch (not key part), when you crank the engine a signal is sent to the fuel pump to run, when it starts and you let off the key another set of contacts keeps the pump getting power Through a relay), these are known as crank and run modes.

remove the shroud around the steering lock ,then with a meter locate the feed ,then the 12v when ignition turned on then with a suitable paperclip or piece of wire turn the igniition on and then from the 12v supply apply a supply the other connection for the starter motor and try that ,if it starts ok then renew the ignition switch ,if it doesnt start its the electronics
