I believe the belt should be positioned in such a manner that you as the driver and the passenger you might be carrying are not in any compromising positions. It is always about safety. however, the belt should always run across your chest when you are in position.

What type of vehicle? Which type of belts?('V-belts or the wider (~1inch) multi-grooved Serpentine belt)
Your broken belt may have hit something when it broke. Does it click-click-click, or no responce to 'start' possition at key?
Might have knocked large battery cable, or small starter wire loose (or cut it 'open'), or some ground-wire, or ignition wire, or module/harness connector loose.

Which cooling fan is the primary on a 99 jeep grand cherokee ???

The main cooling fan on this 1999 jeep cherokee, the main fan all depends.

These jeeps come with diffrent fan set ups. Here are a few, the first may be a fan driven off the motor by a fan belt and a another fan which is electric. the primary fan used for cooling is the fan that runs off the engine with a belt. the other electric fan is more the air conditioning system, this fan is used for cooling the condensor mainly. the engine driven fan is for the cooling system.

Another system fan set-up on these jeeps would be the motor driven fan by belt with another electric fan in front off it, the diffrence between the first and this one is that the first fan system is side by side and this one is set-up one in front of the other but the concept is the same, the fan driven by the engine is mainly for the cooling of the engine coolant and the electric fan is for air conditioning cooling.

In both set-ups the electric fans also help the cooling system but are mainly used for the help in cooling when the a/c is turnned on, the a/c condensor builds up heat the same as the radiator does, one fan is unable to cool both the radiator and the condensor, this is why some cars have two fans.

Good day, hope this is helpful,

Cant find the fan belt on a renault master van n reg

Transverse engines do not have fan belts as such. Fans are electrically driven and are located benind the radiator. What belts there are are the altenator belt and the water pump belt, or these may be combines on different models. Other belts include a power steering pump belt, and an air conditioning belt. These belts all run off the main crankshaft pulley which is located on the right hand side of the engine (viewed from the driver's seat).

Need diagram for serpentine belt

14ae203.jpg

Fig. 1: Exploded view of the belt drive fan assembly-1992 vehicle shown

To install:
1. Position the fan on the drive clutch. Install the bolt and washer assemblies, then tighten to 12-17 ft. lbs. (16-24 Nm).

2. Position the fan drive clutch, fan assembly and fan shroud, then bolt the fan and clutch assembly to the water pump hub. Install and tighten the clutch retaining bolt and water pump assemblies evenly and alternately to 15-22 ft. lbs. (20-30 Nm) for the 3.8L engine or to 36-47 ft. lbs. (48-65 Nm) for the 5.0L engine.

3. Install the fan belt. Align the fan shroud and adjust for equal fan-to-shroud radiator clearance but maintaining a minimum of 0.38 inch clearance to the fan tip on 5.0L engines.

4. Install and tighten the shroud retaining screws. On 5.0L engines, snap the air deflector assembly to the sub-frame cross brace.

Motor stopped working in the door to put the seat belt in place.I can manually attach the belt. Is it still safe? The belt has no resistance when I pull on it quickly.

so long as the belt is possitioned in the LOCKED possition... I would say it is safe...
I would replace the seatbelt motor at the earliest oportunity though.

In the 94 Ford escort there are 3 wires that come from the cooling fan. i need to know which one is possitive which one is negative and what the 3rd one means

If your car has the 1.9 motor and A/C then...Light Green/Yellow stripe wire is from the high speed fan relay,
Yellow wire is from the low speed fan relay and Black is ground.
Both LG and Y are "positives" just different fan speeds.

Belt removal or change

i'm not 100 percent possitive but i assume you will have to loosen the tensioner to serpetine belt and it should have a adjustment and just loosen the adjustment. if thats the case you can jump the power steering belt off and back on by prying it with a screw driver and rotating the crankshaft pully
