Everything seemed just fine until we put in a new battery since the oldone was worn out. Now for no apparent reason the battery drains when left overnight. Obviously something is draining the battery, but the dealer can't find it, so guess it is up to us.

    Any help appreciated!

We have the same problem with our 2002 Trailblazer LT. It started after we replaced an old battery. It's OK if it's run every day for a while, but if it sits more than a day, the battery is dead. My husband checked the alternator and it is OK, so we took it to the place where we got the battery and they agree that something is draining the battery but they haven't got a clue what and the battery itself is OK.

I have an Eclipse 2006 since last year something is draining the battery slowly and to a point it needs a boost after 3-4 days not driving it. A new battery was installed last year and everything checked ok. Two weeks ago I had two boosts within a week. I left it at the dealer for 4 days. They tested it twice during that time and found no drain. It has low mileage and suggest that I give it a good run every week. It is not like it sitting there for weeks on. I do use it. So it means that I can't go on holidays for a week otherwise I will need a boost.

    Hope you can help me.

I too have a problem with the battery draining on my 2002 Trailblazer. It has died on me 4 times since December 08 when we replaced the old battery. Two different shops have not been able to find the problem. The first finally told me that he thought that maybe it was a defective battery. Replaced the battery again, now it is in the dealership's shop right now, they want to replace the motor on the rear wipers and the ignition. But are not giving me any guarantees that this is the problem. This may be the cause of the drain, because they received reports form Chevy? that these could be the problem with battery drains. Seems like an expensive experiment at over $350.00 dollars. I've talked to two other people in this area who have the same problems with their Trailblazers. From what I've seen on the internet, and talking to different people, it sounds like a serious problem with these Chevy vehicles and Chevy does not want to fix it, or take the time to figure it out. No wonder they are in trouble. As for the reply above, all of us reported that this happened after replacing the battery, can't see how the terminals could be corroded. And thanks for the advice to take it to a service shop. That worked for me. I've spent well over $200.00 on this so far and if I do as the current shop asks I will be out another $350.00.

I would check the altenator, wiring, starter draw.
when you try to start the car. Turn your lights on first then start the car. The lights should get brighter with the car running. The altenator should be charging okay. Check your battery ternimals for corrosion , clean them off. The age of the battery may not be able to hold a charge. I would have the vehicle checked at the local repair shop.

it's not the battery or anything you all mentioned it is a faulty wire shortage and Chevy is well aware of the problem and is doing nothing to address the issue there are other people just as we are no one will so anything unless we all stand together ans try to get something done ...class action law suit sounds good to me... to have them recall and fix the problem!!!!!

Something is draining the battery on our 2002 bmw z 3. The battery and alternator checks out good. What could be the problem??

The problem is that an electrical component in the BMW that should be dormant when the vehicle is shut down is actively drawing power.
The only way to track it down is to have tests run to see which circuit is drawing excessive power because there are numerous components that might be the cause.

My 1998 kia sportage does not start, something is draining the battery, had the alternator, started and battery tested, all good. So what's draining the battery!

The #1 most common cause is lights being left on or lights coming on at night when the temperature drops. Lighted visors are a common problem.

My 1994 Subaru SVX was having issues starting. We fixed the relay, and reworked some wiring issues. Now it starts, but the battery drains rapidly. I believe it to be the fault of the Theft Security System....

Rapid draining is usually caused by a shorted diode in the alternator. Disconnect it and see if the drain stops. The theft system would cause a much smaller drain and take overnight. But here's the way to track down a battery drain.
