Where is thermostat located 4.3 liter chevy s10, 2003

The thermostat is located inside the steel thermostat housing, which is located on the front of the engine right in front of the throttle body housing and halfway between the alternator and a/c compressor. Remove the air intake assembly and remove the front bracket connected to the front two bolts of the throttle body. Then remove the two main bolts of the thermo housing. Lift up the thermo housing and you will see the thermostat sitting there.

It is located on the rear top of the engine, behind the intake manifold.

Where is the thermostat mounted?

    • 1. Locate the thermostat housing by following the radiator hose from the radiator to the engine block. The metal cover that the hose attaches to is the Tahoe's thermostat housing.

    • 2

Remove the radiator hose retention clip by manually squeezing the clip tabs together. With the tabs together, pull the hose off the thermostat housing. Drain the fluid from the hose by holding the hose in the air. The fluid will drain back into the radiator.

    • 3

Remove the thermostat housing by taking off the two bolts with a boxed wrench. Lift the hosing off the engine to expose the thermostat.

    • 4

Pull the old thermostat out of the Tahoe's intake manifold. Place the new one into the intake manifold with the spring-loaded end inside of the intake.

    • 5

Replace the old thermostat gasket with a new one. The gasket must remain dry during the installation process.

    • 6

Place the thermostat housing on top of the thermostat gasket and bolt it into place.

    • 7

Squeeze the radiator hose retention clip tabs together and slide the hose back onto the thermostat housing. Let go of the tabs to secure the hose into place.

2003 Jeep Cherokee Laredo started overheating after replacing thermostat.

This is s common fault after replacing thermostat, there is a system bleed screw located on radiator which will need bleeding? If you warm engine up"only warm not hot" then locate bleed screw and slacken off, not unscrew all the way? You will hear a hissing noise of the air in you system. Very similar to central heating radiator in a house! Once you have water coming through then tighten up bleed screw/bolt and give engine a bit of a run. Hope this helps
