Heater problem

Put a meat thermometer taped to the upper radiator hose by engine. Check temp when fully hot should be minimum 180 degrees or higher. Turn on full heat and see what the temp of your heater hoses are going through the fire wall they should be the same temp as the engine was. If one side of the heater is cold take off hoses when cold and hook to garden hose on cold side first and flush out heater core. I don't think thats it. If it is hot everywhere but inside one of your mode motors is not opening the right door under the dash when looked at from drivers side two motors. They are interchangeable but have to be calibrated

Heater won't go to full hot have air but little heat

Check your thermostat. Put a meat thermometer in radiator start engine wait till top radiator hose gets hot it should be 180 or better if not replace. If it does get hot flush the heater core by disconnecting the two hoses and hook a garden hose to it and back flush it. If no heat now your doors are not working under the dash

I do not get any heat in the rear of my 2002 Dodge Grand caravan sport. The front of van takes a long time to heat up but, heat will work after a long time. Is my rear heater core bad?

Uncover it and see if it is hot if it does your fan or switch needs replacing if it's cold and the engine is hot. diconnect hoses when ciold and put them in bucket and have someone start car and put on rear heat if water flows flush out core or replace if it doesn't flow switch is not opening vale or valve bad. I would think there is no valve and there is hot water to the unit all the time. There my be a door that opens and closes like the front heating system12_12_2011_4_57_51_pm.jpg

Need help, I have a 2001 Chevy cavalier 2.2 L..It hs been over heating, can't find the leak. Put water in it and it is bone dry real fast.We took out the thermostat and let the car idle for a while,...

Dear, check water leakage from the heater's radiator. For this, disconnect water circulation to the car cabin heater.
There are two water carrying hoses for the heater, one is to carry water to the heater and the other one is to carry it back to engine. One end of these two hoses is connected to the engine side and the other end of these hoses is connected to the heater side.
You have to disconnect any first hose's end from the heater's side and second hose's end from the engine's side.

Now connect the hose end, which you had disconnected from the heater

When starting each time get a really awful smell [like old urine thro the air conditioning] is it filters or need re servicing

Depending on the year it may have a filter. i would check and replace it, another thing ive found on many cars is that mice make nests on top of the filter for the heating/ac system and that smells bad, what i do is replace the filter and then turn on the ac or heat at low temp with high speed fan and make sure the setting is for outside air not recirculating and then spray grem and ordor killing spray into the vents, not inside the car but from the outside where the wipers are, this is where the air comes in from and also make sure to open door to allow the spray to exit the car, good day.

Replace thermostat. Engine temperature gauge hardly moves and heat into passenger compartment luke warm. Unable to locate thermostat in engine compartment.

The thermostat is where your lower radiator hose meets the engine block. There are three bolts to remove to get to it, if your engine is a V6
