How do i replace a ford focus throtle cable

disconnect the throttle cable from the throttle body. follow the throttle cable around the engine and you will find it goes through the fire wall and connects to the gas pedal. disconnect the cable from the gas pedal and pull out of the cab compartment from engine side. Pay close attention to how you disconnected the cable from the gas pedal and from the throttle body because you will have to reverse this procedure when you install the replacement. You will need an assistant who is pretty flexable to connect the cable to the gas pedal. so let the assistant disconnect the old cable from the gas pedal so he or she will know how to connect the new one back to the gas pedal. It was not an easy project for me and it definitely is not as easy as it seems to be. You will need plenty of time, daylight and patience. The replacement cable may be shorter than the original and that ok. Ford has made sure it will work. Use tie-wraps or zip-ties to hold the new throttle cable back in place around the engin. Good luck.

02 Intrepid almost stalls when driving over 35mph

I know this one well!
all intrepids have a large fuse panel cable that runs over the tie rods this causes rubbing of the cable and all kinds of problems!
just raise the fuse panel cable up to the back of the throttle body
and hold it in place with a zip tie.fastened to the throttle body lug then the tie rod will not pull on the cable and cause stalling.

My 04 ford explorer 4.0L acceleration petal it's not working . Can it be a sensor?

open the hood you should see the throttle cables on the side of the throttle body twist that monster the cables are wrapped around thats your throttle if the motor doesnt rev up its a problem in the throttle body if it does then your throttle cable may be snapped somewhere

Was trying to figure out how to properly clean a throttle body on a 2000 Dodge Dakota quad cab

Not much to clean on any throttle body, just an
aluminum machined casting & may have some
deposits on it, but that isn't going to be your loss
of power issue.

You can spray it inside with CRC Throttle Body
Cleaner, the instructions are on the can.

Have to go thru the entire engine testing as you go,
assuming all preventative maintenance has been
done, if time & mileage warrants such work

Don't throw parts at it

119--Throttle valve mechanical fault bmw 323i

Hi there:
Fault Code 119 (77) - MDK throttle mechanical sticking.

The accross DTC P1580 code converts to 3 possible BMW codes, 109, 114 & 119. These all relate to the throttle assembly, which on your car is an MDK, motor driven throttle.

The first thing I would do is make sure that the cable is reinstalled correctly and secure in its bracket. I have seen one or two of these that have broken where the cable attaches to the throttle itself. If all of that looks ok I think you probably have a bad throttle.

Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I`ll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

Thank you for using FixYa, have a nice day.

My car, an xjs 4lt, 1996 cele', it has a aj16 engine, the idle speed is too fast & will not reduce, i've checked the butterfly & that seems ok, i don't know whether or not the step...

Too fast an idle speed. If an engine without computerized idle speed control is idling too fast and refuses to come down to a normal idle speed despite your best efforts to back off the carburetor idle speed screw or air bypass adjustment screw (fuel injection), air is getting past the throttle somewhere. Common leak paths include the carburetor and throttle body gaskets, carburetor insulator spacers, intake manifold gaskets, and of course, any of the engine's vacuum fittings, hoses and accessories. It is even possible that leaky O-rings around the fuel injectors are allowing air to leak past the seals. Another overlooked item can be a worn throttle shaft and a defective idle speed speed control motor/valve stuck in the extended (high idle speed) position/throttle position sensor. Also the throttle plate could be binding in its bore and kinked accelerator cable, coolant temperature sensor might not be operating properly misleading the computer that the engine is still cold and computer throwing fuel at it raising the idle speed.----------

Getting this possibilities checked will help.Thanks.Helpmech.

Where is the throttle located on a 1992 dodge spirit? The car wouldn't stop accelerating until mashing the break to stop the car. Now the driver is on the side of the road with the hood popped looking for...

It's hooked to the throttle cable. It's roundish plastic disc & can be rotated by hand. Sometimes the cable frays & sticks the throttle open. It could also be caused by a sticking floor mat that has jamed up underneath the accelerator pedal. Try tying the mat to the seat frame to stop it from jamming up.You may have to change the throttle cable however. Hope this helps. Good luck!

My 2004 Tahoe is not shifting in to gear unless I come off the gas some. The speed dail started to stick before this issue started. any ideals.

Instead of a cable, most vehicle's speedometers are controlled by a speed sensor at the tail of the transmission. These do go bad and would cause your speedometer to malfunction. They are not like light bulbs which just die, these sensors will kick in and out irregularly.Secondly you have a thin cable that is connected to your throttle in addition to the throttle cable itself. This second cable is for the kick-down of your transmission. It is utilized when you make a sudden pass of another vehicle to shift down one gear. This cable becomes misaligned at times and will, in a sense, become shortened. Try releasing it from the throttle cam and see how your vehicle reacts then. If it shifts correctly than you need a new kick-down cable.
