I can't hear a motor and don't know what end caps or bolts

  • jn27 Jan 26, 2009

I'll have to try it tomorrow . It's 10 below zero right now and I don't feel like going outside. I assume that if I don't hear a faint whine the motor must be shot.

On my wife's 2004 Impala, the windshield wipers only work on high speed. The delay on the switch doesn't work. I can only assume it's the switch. Does anyone have any experience on this?

there is usually a relay or fuse for the wipers and washer motor. i would check your owners manual to find which fuse it is or check the fuse box cover.

Right side windshield washer don't work, left one does.

Take off the plastic cowling under the hood ( few screws and clips), remove your rubber gasket that seals to hood and you should be able to see/get to the problem

the pump motor likely is bad. get a used washer fluid reservoir at a pick n pull yourself or at car-part.com. page with * is lowest cost.

Pump and Reservoir, Windshield Washer Removal
  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable (14301).
  2. Raise and support the vehicle.
  3. Remove the RH wheel (1007).
  4. Remove the RH front fender splash shield (16103). Refer to Section 01-02 for the removal procedure.
  5. Remove the windshield washer reservoir top bolt.

  6. Disconnect the windshield washer reservoir fluid level sensor electrical connector.
  7. Disconnect the rear window washer pump electrical connector from the rear window washer pump.
  8. Disconnect the windshield washer pump electrical connector from the windshield washer pump (17664).
  9. Place a suitable drain pan under the windshield washer reservoir (17618) and drain the washer fluid.
  10. NOTE: The rear window washer hose end is color-coded, matching the connector on the rear window washer pump. Match the colors to ensure proper installation.

Disconnect the washer hoses from the windshield washer pump and the rear window washer pump on the windshield washer reservoir.

if i am not mistaken it uses the same reservoir as your windshield washers. if its not working it may be plugged or malfunctioning.

What fuse controls the windshield washer pump? on a 2001 Jeep Che

usually it's in the washer bottle which is usually in the fender well, ahrd to get to.
The fuse that controls it should be listed in your owners manual. Usually a 10 amp fuse in the fuse panel inside the car usually on the instrument panel somewhere.
