Make cylinder one is top dead centre. There will be a tensioner that needs to be released as well

you should change your timing belt now. as a general rule all timing belts should be changed at 50000miles just for peace of mind.im not familiar with that specific model but make sure you replace what ever pulleys, waterpump and tensioners you get in your replacement timing belt kit.

I want to make sure that the timing belt has been changed on my Volkswagon LT 55 van

Only way to check yours LT 55 timing belts is to open the engine cover inside the cab, remove timing belt covers-because they are two-one is on a front of the engine another is for injector pump at the back of the engine.Just take a look at the timing belts. There is manufacturer mark. They must be brand new.If it is necessary just turn the engine even you can start.

How do you set the timing on a Plymouth Voyager ? I have to repace a broken timing belt. I was also told to replace the water pump is that true.

It is recommended because if you have to change the water pump belt change since you have to remove it and you save work in the future as we recommend changing the camshaft seals and crankshaft as it saves time and money
