Good Day qits81, if your vehicle does not do anything funny while running it is nothing to worry about. Under normal operating conditions the engine control unit runs an automatic system diagnosis program to ensure that the engine runs at an optimum. As soon as the engine control unit received "feedback" from the sensors and all is o.k the light switches off. If there is a problem with one or more of the systems the check engine light will stay on to warn the operator that they need to have it checked out.
