Question about 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier Coupe
My car wouldn't start last week and I had it towed. the mechanic went out next morning and it started. He checked everything over and could find anything wrong. today I was driving and the car started coughing about a mile later it died out as I was going up hill. The battery works but doesn't seem to get gas. I am waiting for mechanic to look at it tomorrow. The car has 86000 miles I am wondering if I should look into a new car or if anyone knows what could be wrong with it
It sounds a lot like mine, after doing some searching online I've come to the conclusion that it's the fuel pump. This seems to be a recurrent problem with the Cavalier and Chevy is NOT offering a free fix. You have to drop the fuel tank in order to replace the pump as it is located inside the tank. The price of a new fuel pump varies as does the amount of time (quoted by various people) to complete the job. Good Luck.
