I have a 1997 chevy silverado C1500 Z71. We replaced the fuel pump but the truck still wont start. It seems like the fuel pump is not getting any electricity. Have also replaced relay switch.

Look in your owner manuel to see if you have a reset button for the fuel pump, this is a safety feature to shut off fuel if in an accident. You could also check for fuel pump relay and fuse.

Did you try to make sure it is a fuel problem ? shoot a little gas into the engine to see if it starts .. If so you put in a faulty fuel pump .. also did you hook up the ground wire on that pump ?

Not sure what to do but the 2000 chevy silverado 1500 Z71 V8 truck that i have wont take in gas. we thought that it was the fuel pump so we replaced that and the fuel filter but the truck still wont start....

Did you check the voltage to the pump to insure it was getting full power? Check the fuel pressure regulator? Also take a manual fuel pressure reading. A faulty crank sensor will also cause a no start condition.

a 1997 c1500 doesnt have a carb it is fuel injected, you poured fuel into the throttle body. when you turn the key to the start position and you do not hear the fuel pump you could have a blown fuse. if not, all chevys have passlock a passive antitheft system that have locked the fuel system down. check some remote start companies on the internet you will find one with a wiring diagram, you can figure out the rest from there. its eas

Did you check fuel pressure to make sure you are getting proper fuel pressure? If it will start with starting fluid then it has to be either fuel related or electrical. Are you getting power to your fuel relay? When you turn the key on can you hear your fuel pump come on? I would not use anymore starting fluid at all to try and start it other wise you cause major problems.

1996 silverado 5.7 vortec cranks but wont start. fuel pump, gauges, "idiot" lights, blinkers do not work. flashers and all the rest of lights operate. Just replaced coil and this happens

Had the same problem with my '96 Silverado with 350 Vortec. The truck would only crank. It would start if fuel was poured down the throttle body. Could not hear the fuel pump hum. Fuse was good, but could not hear relay click. Relay was good, Did some electrical wiring trouble shooting. Turned out that one of the connectors that clasp onto one of the pins of the fuel pump relay wasn't making a good connection, too loose. I just stuck a peice of wire into the connector and pushed the relay back in. Relay clicked, Truck Started. It's been more than 4 yrs. since I made that McGuyver fix. Still firing.
