OK I have a 1976 Chevy C20 pickup with a 350 I just rebuilt the motor and now it won't idle on it's own and I have no power in 3rd gear can anyone help me

check for vacuum leak for the idle or idle mixture screws settings
no power in 3rd gear can be low fuel level, filter problems , ignition timing ( static is 12 degrees BTDC idle )
more than likely a vacuum hose missing after assembly

The electrical is so messes up on this car, every once in a while the heater goes out and i checked the fuse on the driver side box and its good, should i check anywhere esle

could be a blower moter switch or motor itself...some motors have a varyiable speed resistiance switch..this could be failing...check codes for blower motor ..the motor themself go bad and have too much resistance in them and this cause the swtich to fail ..chech ohms resistance on motor..if bad replace.....its probly the switch itself or a bad relay

1997 Chevy S10 pickup Fan switch for heater runs on high only.

replace the blower motor resistor located on the heater box were the blower motor is located the wiring to the blower may go to it. This is very easy to locate if you buy the part first.

I am trying to remove the ignition switch from a 1976 Chevy PU

This plate is the steering lock plate. It has a lock ring on the shaft but is under very heavy spring pressure which must be compressed in order to remove and re-install. There is a special tool that compresses this spring. It mounts on the steering shaft threads and pushes on the plate. It is quite difficult without but can be done with two persons as one presses and the other removes the lock ring...good luck

Switch wont go from cold to hot

It's the little motor that controls the blend door flap in the heater box. The plastic gears inside crack. Remove the glovebox and you will see 2 screws holding the motor on the heater box, they are sorta hard to get off, but a small wrench will do it. The part is like $90 from the dealer.

Good call emissionwiz. It's right behind the blower motor, under the glove box area. Remove the shroud below the glove box, 2 screws and a snap-pop fitting. Be careful of the courtesy light. Remove the blower moter and disconnect the purple/black power connector to it - - you'll need this extra room to work with. 2 more screws, same size, 6.5mm on mine, 7or 8mm on some others, that holds the blower motor resistor in place. This replacement part is less than 40 bones at most parts store. Unplug, replace, re-install, test and you're on your way with about 2 hours of slow paced effort in your own driveway. Typical cost at a garage - up to $400, what a sham.
