""success! last night i just *had* to get at least one of them off so i
took a big hammer and a piece of wood and beat the sh*t out of the
driver's side spindle. it finally came off!
this morning i got to work on the passenger side one. no amount of
liquid wrench and beating would get it off. then i remembered the
"hot wrench". i took a propane torch and heated up the area behind
the spindle for a while. i didn't want to heat the spindle itself,
else it would make it MUCH harder (if not impossible) to remove.
after heating and beating it for a little while longer, it finally
gave!
thanks to all for the ideas-u guys rock! and so does the hot wrench...

sounds like you have blown the internal heater matrix and the thermostat is not working or is blocked. you are going to need a new matrix and thermostat and a bloody good flush out of the system just in case there is something in the system means taking off the rad hoses flush them out from both ends. and doing the same to the engine. replacing the matrix as its not going to be able to fix it if its shooting water out of the vents change the thermostat check pipes for damage.

How do i replace the wheelbearings on the rear differential?

Hi,
First you need the correct tools such as axle pullers and bearing extractor tools...Then it is just a case of removing the wheels and the brake assemblies from either side.
Once this is done then you can extract the axles to replace the bearings.
Thanks
Jason

The rubber cover on the left side axel is tore. I need to replace the joint I think. How do I do this?

You will need to remove the front wheel. Unbolt the caliper and move aside. Remove the rotor. Remove the axle nut. Unbolt the 3 hub/ bearing bolts and remove hub assembly. Pull the axle shaft out through the opening left by the hub bearing. Cut off the old boot and clamps. Hold axle shaft and tap joint and axle stub off of shaft with a hammer. Install new boot on shaft and reverse steps for assembly.

How do you replace front hub assembly on jeep grand cherokee 1996

Remove brake assembly and rotor, including axle nut (do first...about 175 ft lbs torque...a real bear to get loose) There are three 12point bolts on backside of steering knuckle. loosen them and back out about 1/2 inch...Give them a good shot with a hammer to begin pushing bearing from knuckle. (I leave an old wrench on each as I hammer so they don't deform too much.) Use lots of wd40 and sometimes you need to get a chisel and hammer between the bearing and knuckle to separate them. Reverse process (except for hammering part) to replace.

How do I replace a front wheel bearing assembly on a 2000 jeep grand cherokee?

Remove tire, brake caliper and rotor (before doing this use a solid breaker bar and a long steel pipe to remove center nut on axle) It is tight (about 170lbs) Once everything is off, put the nut on the axle backweards and make it even with end. give it a tap with a hammer to break it free from the bearing splines. There are three 12point bolts on the backside of the steering knuckle. back them out a bit and use a chisel between the bearing and knuckle to get it free. Use lots of wd40 or other solvent. If you need to, hammer a bit on three bolts. But not so much you can't get a wrench on them. as bearing becomes free, remove bolts and finish. Assemble in oposite order (but no hammering) when tightening axle nut use # I gave you and do not loosen to get cotter pin through hole...tighten further.

How do replace front axle bearings on a 92 jeep

You have to pull off the wheel, brake assembly, and rotor. If it is a 4x4, i suggest you take it to a mechanic. If it isn't, once you pull all that off you will see a little cap cover. take a small screwdriver and pop off the cap. There will be a clip. pull off the clip and pull out the axle bearing. Make sure you grease the axle bearings before you put the new one in. Then put it back together in the reverse of these instructions. Hope this helps.

RELACING WHEEL BEARINGS IN A 95 JEEP GRAND

Front wheel bearings can be done at home rear wheel bearings will require a hydraulic press and an axle puller. Either job can be difficult depending on amount of rust and availability of tools. The front wheel bearings are an assembly and once the jeep is up on jack stands, with the tires, brake calipers, and rotors removed, it is only a matter of removing the axle nut and 3 bolts (which can be difficult depending on rust) holding in the old bearing assembly
