SOURCE: how do I replace the

Usually you will need to cut the cable to the appropriate length.

The end that goes on the battery is already there, but you will need
to measure and cut the cable to the correct length, and crimp on an
eyelet to put a bolt through. This is simple and will ground your battery.

I have a 1996 Mercury Gran Marquis sometimes wouldn't go into D-gear. forced me to go to 2 Gear. Few days ago when i put it on PARK gear, it goes into reverse. Do i need a new transmission?

Maybe, but not necessarily. Its possible your shift linkage/cable has loosened or stretched. Have a reputable transmission shop check that. (easy for them to do)

Shifting cable has rested on Transmission, how do you replace the whole shifting cable from Transmission to shifter in car,

You have to pull the steering column down to replace that end of the cable.

Hope this helps.

My 1991 Grand Marquis will NOT go into park, it keeps rolling what can I do?

Could be a problem with the key lock cylinder.
You could disconnect the shift cable and try shifting the lever on the transmission. That would tell you if it is a shift lever problem or something inside the trans.

Atv won,t shift into reverse

2004 Mercury Grand Marquis is not an ATV. Reverse on some ATV's has a knob on the handlebar attached to a cable that sometimes goes out of rig. (the cable prevents shifting down past neutral unless pulled)

Why does my 1987 mercury grandmarquise bog down afer it shifts to a higher gear.

I had a Mercury Grand Marquis that had a similar problem, poor low end performance and bogging down after shifting. I replaced the mass air flo unit and no more problem, also it might help if you clean the throttle bore and related parts , make sure to use the proper cleaning spray to prevent damage to coating inside bore

How do I adjust the linkage on my 1995 Mercury Grand Marquis shifter is sloppy

The bolts loosen up on the bracket that holds the shifter shaft to the cable. Look up from the floor board and look above the steering column in the shift cable area. Wiggle the shifter and you should see the problem. Tighten the bolts with a torx bit.
