If you cant reach it on the side an alt way to drain it is to to pull the lower rad hose to drain.

Take all the caps off and then on the bottom of it on the passenger's side it should be right there on the corner and it looks like a wing nut. Loosen it all the way, not just part way because then you can make sure you get all of it out.

Look on the Very Bottom of the Radiator. It will be on the right or Left Far sides. It is supposed to look like a Wing nut. Just release it until the Coolant is Draining to avoid air pockets. Release the Cap also.

CAn a regular cooking system be put in a 1989 Jeep Cherokee rather then the pressurized one. If so is it a major job or problem?

cooking system??? lol you mean cooling system right? nyeah I wish to find this out for myself....but there is a cross member that sit over the radiator that would prevent having a radiator cap located there and the standard width of 2" inches would have the radiator cut into the radiator fan. so my guess is that without a custom fabricated front clip we are doomed to deal with this retarded cooling system.

Where is the radiator drain plug located on my 1997 Jeep Cherokee Country 4X4. The only plug I have located is on the side oh the radiator and is almost impossible to get to.

You can usually get to it by removing the front grille. (just a few screws)
I usually ignore the drain as after you get to them, half don't work.
Fastest way of draining is to remove the lower hose from the radiator. It comes out fast so don't do it hot and have a catch pan there or you will make a mess. Most times you can get to it easily by removing the air filter box (two bolts inside bottom).

Where is the drain plug for the radiator

Should be a drain **** at the bottom of the radiator that unscrews out. It looks like a wing nut has been welded to a bolt on the end of it. Another way to do this is just pull off the bottom hose.

Drain radiator

How easy is it to remove lower rad hose? I've reverted to that more than once rather than fight with some of those drain plugs & their neat locations.

Your cooling system is air locked it need need to bleed it. The easiest way is by a 5/8" heater hose T and install it on one of the heater hoses. It make bleeding really simple.
