Question about 2005 Buick Rainier

1 Answer

Power seat not moving front to back, everything else works

05 Buick Rainier, power seat does not move front to back, everything else works (power, lumbar, heat, seat back and height), just the base does not move back to front. Memory keys work fine When you try to activate or move the seat with the switch on the side of the seat, you can hear something clicking, but there's no motion.

I had wiggled or unplugged the harness connector once and it "fixed" the problem temporarily, but that's not working this time.

Do the servo motors have a history of locking up? Is there a saftey switch that might be preventing it from moving?

My wife has to drive this, is there any way I can move the seat manually? (Too many motors, can I spin the shaft if I can find the motor (any hints welcomed)

Any help appreciated

Power seat motor is stuck will not move

Hello, Before you tear out the seat motor, you might want to check the motor switch. If the switch is loose in the door panel, it might not be moving enough to make contact. Normally, motors do not heal themselves.

Power seat motor

Fron first principles, the reverse movement of the motor is caused by reversing power polarity to the motor. If he motor runs in one direction and not the other then it isthe switch. It is not conecting power to the reverse contact. Check.replace switch.

Passenger seat won't go back

I have had the same problem. It occurs when you take the key out of the ignition to fast. Sounds stupid but if you turn the engine off and slow down the extraction of the key the seat will move as it should. I was turning off and taking the key out fast and the seat would not retract. Slowed everything down and now it works. Hope this works for you.
