Question about 2005 Honda Odyssey

Oil pan leaking on 2004 Honda Odyssey

Mechanic says it is an item that after so many oil changes(which I have gotten oil changed every three thousand miles) wears and needs to be replaced, my husband says tell them to put teflon tape on it, what should I do to get the leak to stop, replace or tape? Is this a wearable item on these vans? I have 108,000 miles on my van and have never had any other problems with it and would like to keep it for another couple of years if possible. What should I do?

are you saying the oil pan drain bolt is leaking or the oil pan itself , the oil pan drain plug has a sealing washer that wears and is easily enough replace at the time of oil change , unless someone stripped your threads where it goes in , in that case yes an oil pan might be in order . did this start leaking after an oil change ?

Is it the Seal around the Drain Plug that is Leaking???? If so, You could use Teflon Tape But, It will not sold for long. You can get another Drain Plug from Your Auto Parts Store and Save the 500.00 Bucks that the Dealership will charge you to replace this.

My 2007 GMC Yukon has 120,000 miles. Recently, I noticed that when driving the vehicle, the RPM do not drop, or reset, as the car accelerates. Instead, the faster the car goes, the higher the rpm's go,...

You have a failed transmission that will have to be
rebuilt or replaced with Reman

The flair in the rpm & gear change issues, should
have been the clue

How does that happen on a 7 year old vehicle ?

You fail to change your transmission & power steering
fluids every three years & those items that should last
15 years & 150,000 or possibly more, are given a death
sentence.

Trans fluid breaks down from heat in about two years &
like all fluids the additive packages are used up

Brake Fluid --every 2 years
Spark Plugs --every 3 years or they wear & stress the
ignition system

Motor Oil-well-you do as you please

I change mine 3 times a year,which is about 4,000
miles
When we worked-four times a year

I have a 2014 vehicle that I got in march
Changed the oil this Monday at 711 miles
WHY- it has been in there 4 months (remember
3 times a year) BUT --i keep my vehicles 18 years

I have one that I have had 30 years

The trans fluid --I will be doing soon
WHY- because I once owned a trans shop
& know what wears & when

Most wear, you ask-yep-the first thousand miles
& this vehicle has NO Filter, just a screen

Why oil service required

I will assume you are referring to a light on your instrument panel which says this. If so, you car has a system to remind you of the need for regular oil changes. Your owner's manual will tell you how to turn off that light after you have changed your oil, if you do it yourself. Your service garage will do it if you have them do it. Do not neglect your oil changes or you may suffer engine failure.
Be blessed.

TICKING NOISES COMING FROM LIFTERS

You sure it is coming from the lifters ? The injectors make the same kind of noise. But you can try changing the oil more often every three thousand miles is what is recommended instead of the five thousand like some people tell you. I have a 1998 dodge 5.2 with 199584 miles on it no problems changed oil every three thousand miles.

Oil leak in 96 odyssey

Do you see a huge oil puddle under the car after it sits overnight (it would be huge!)? If no then the engine is burning the oil, you don't see smoke because the catalytic converter burns it up.

Service 100 thousands miles

The 04 was pretty straight forward.

Change the oil and filter when the display tells you to. (Don't forget to reset Oil Life system!)
when the display tells you to change engine oil... Do the following as well:
~Lube Chassis Components
~Check Tires for Air and Damage
~Inspect Break System
~Check Engine Fluids and Washer System
~Check Power Steering System
~Check Wiper Blades
~Check Restraint System
~Lube Body Components (See manual)
~Replace Cabin Air Filter (Located in firewall on passenger side.)

Every 25K miles do the following:
~ Inspect Fuel System, Exhaust System, Accessory Drive Belts for damage or wear.
~ Replace Air Cleaner

Ever 50K Miles
~ If used for Towing - Replace Transfer Case Fluid :: If not change fluid ever 75Kk miles.

Every 100k Miles
~ Change Automatic Transmission Fluid and Filter
~ Change Automatic Transmission Fluid and Filter again at 150k if heavy service
~ Replace Spark Plugs

Every 150k miles
~ Change Engine Coolant (Or every 5 years which ever comes first!)
~ Replace Engine Accessory Drive Belt

optional y are supposed to change the transfer case fluid every 50k if towing
