my gears get stuck while in park when its cold out. but when the car is warm it moves fine why is my gear box sticking

- when the interior is cold, this happens to me as well. I have to shake the hell out of the shifter till I think it's just about to break and then it will shift out of park. I am told that there is a safety switch that is designed to lock the shifter unless the brake pedal is pressed down, and that when this switch gets too cold it sticks. I'm also told that I can disconnect the switch and bypass it altogether. I would rather just replace it with a new one but haven't had the time to look for a replacement switch yet. - Guest
