I have a Suzuki 2L diesel 2004 Grand Vitara and recently the 4x4 does not disengage even though i have put the lever back down to 2. Eventually after a few hundred metres it disengages back to 2 wheel...

hello and greetings. you did not say what driveline options
were purchase when car was new. so, can not answer.
but if car is PT 4wd, I can. if not get it fixed, by any 4wd shop.

the car is full time 4wd or AWD ?
PT:
the Part time 4wd must not be driving on dry pavement.
so drive to dirt or grass or ice and then shift back to 2wd

there is a TSB from Suzuki on wind up.

exceptions?
sure , the 2004 options statement here. and the rules for PT 4wd.
http://www.fixkick.com/part-time-test.html

Suzuki Grand Vitara/Escudo -full-time 4WD using limited-slip center differential, off-road 4WD with selectable center differential lock and low range transfer case 4 mode (4h, 4h lock, 4l n), traction control and electronic stability control
Suzuki offered as an option AWD for Grand Vitara's in 2004 (XL7 too) Some Suzuki AWD you can not use lock on dry pavement, so read the operators guide carefully.

suzuki sells the operators guide if lost,
$4 day pass
$25 for full pdf.

4 wheel will not engage

define engage.
1: lamp glows. (means almost nothing... 1switch 1 lamp, zip)
2: 1 tire slips on front and rear on ice.? (works for real,it does.)

are you driving on dry pavement (no ice) in 4wd
stop that
, this is part time 4wd, its not AWD. at all
http://www.fixkick.com/part-time-test.html

see the rules , even the lost operator guide rules, and why.
and how to do the tests. wheels up or wheels down.

always post road surface with 4wd,
ice
snow
dirt? what, we just dont know until you say.

Suzuki vitara 16v automatic not picking speed beyond 80km/hr. gear box seems to respond after car heats up for a while and has hard shifts. I have had injectors serviced

Entered in the T2 category, the closest to production vehicles, the two Panda Cross's are fitted with a 1.3 Multijet turbodiesel combined with a six-speed manual gearbox that delivers about 105 bhp at 4500 rpm and has a peak torque of 17 kgm at 2500 rpm. Apart from their small dimensions, the two cars stand out for their automatically selectable all-wheel drive with viscous joint and locking differential, the system that provides more grip on the terrain thanks to the optimal split of motive force to the wheels.

The Fiat Panda Cross is proving to be an extraordinary "explorer", completely at ease on rough, gruelling terrain. Credit for this also goes to the tried and tested, specifically set suspension layout: in front McPherson independent wheels, at the rear independent wheels with longitudinal tie rods. Not to mention the shock absorbers, adjustable 4 ways at the front and 3 at the rear.

Lift the back of your car. With a stable rest and with the two hind wheels hanging, run your car up to the speed where you experienced vibration. have someone take care of the throttle and shifting while you observe the transmission shaft. You may have an imbalanced shaft.
