    Hi SCR13
I had my 2001 mpv heater on for 20 minutes and found both smaller and thinner hoses near the firewall entering the vehicle were hot. What do I need to do to fix the blend door.

Start at the begining.  Run vehicle til radiator hoses are hot.  then check the heater hoses, two smaller and thinner looking radiator hoses near the firewall entering the vehicle.  Hold the hoses with your hands from the engine compartment,  if both of these hoses are getting hot, then you have a blend door problem, where it may be stuck in the cold position.  if they are not too hot to hold then the issue is with getting the water hotter. such as a thermostat.  try this and keep me posted.

The blend door moves by a cable or an electronic motor.  The heater box is located behind the glove box.  look for the door, you'll see the cable or motor attached to the blend door post.  remove the cable or motor and manually move the door, then see if you have proper heat.  at times I find glove box items get jammed in blend door.  Otherwise follow cable back to temp control head and see if it moves when you move knob from hot to cold and back.  Keep me posted.

Are you getting air thru the vents of any temperature?

If cold air is coming thru then the blend door may be broken internally, and I would suggest you have a professional take over the repair, the dash must be removed to access this.

If no air is coming thru, then the blower motor may not be functioning. Please keep me posted.

If the hoses are hot and you are only getting cold air, the heater core itself appears to be clogged and in need of replacement. Keep me posted.

Heatdoesn't work, A/C blows out warm air and defrosts blow out cold air

Right think the problem is the heater core is blocked with corrosion ,now remove the bottom hose from the rad and the heater hoses then flush every which way you can including through the heater core reversing direction then ,refit all the hoses fill with water only and see if heater works if so the remove the bottom hose again and drain ,then add a minium of 3 litres of antifreeze ,its a anti corrosion agent as well as antifreeze and without it the internal of the engine will corrode and the slurry will block the heater first then the radiator ,

No heat blowing cold air.

Do you smell coolant inside of the vehicle. If so then chances are your heater core is going.

Why does my heat blow warm air then it turns cold

its VERY likely that your heater core is getting stopped up.

The heater in your car works by circulating hot water from the engine into a copper or aluminum pipe coiled up in the dashboard. The heater/airconditioner's fan blows across it and the hot air comes out of the vents. This is why the heater doesn't work right away when you first start the car. It usually won't work until the hot/cold needle in the gauges is starting to rise up.

If your mechanic recently replaced the thermostat, its possible that there is air in the system which will result in less antifreeze in the car than it should be. If this is not the case, the heater core is probably stopping up and will require expensive replacement if it cannot be flushed clean.

Check to make sure the car is full of antifreeze IN THE RADIATOR, AND THE OVERFLOW JUG. Please be very sure there is NO AIR in the cooling system as well.

Why would my heater blow out cool air when sitting still and then hot air when going down the road and then it's not all that hot

Try flushing or blowing high pressure air through the heater core lines. its sludge build up and need to be flushed through heater core only. check antifreeze fluid level. only put in straight antifreeze, do not mix. most people do not know what mixture should be, so be safe and add straight, it will not hurt it, i run 100% straight antifreeze and never had a problem or worry about it ever freezing and cracking my block, heads or radiator cracking.

My heater blows cold air when car is stopped. i have installed a new water pump and the radiator is full of water.

you still have air trapped in the cooling system. Get front of car as high up as you can on a hill. Cold engine - loosen radiator cap, fill with 50/50 antifreeze mix. Start engine and run until upper radiator hose is hot (thermostat open). Engine should burp air and maybe spill some coolant, that's ok. Once burped, tighten cap, shut off engine and let it cool down while keeping the reservoir full. It will **** coolant out of reservoir as it cools. Keep it full.

If still cold air, take to a shop that has evac/fill equipment; they will **** air out and repalce with coolant. About $80.

Hi, this 1999 ford escort zx2 has a heating problem, i set the temperature to the red side on supposedly the hottest, and air fan running, and air its still cold, it has coolant/antifreeze mix to proper...

You may have a clogged heater core. Carefully feel both heater hoses and see if they are about the same temperature. If one is colder than the other the flow thru your heater core is restricted and it will have to be changed
