04 Jeep Power Windows

All of the power windows just went out on my 04 Jeep Cherokee. The power locks work on the passenger side door but not on the drivers side. None of the controls work on the drivers side including the mirrors, windows, or locks.

The exact problem I am having. Thw windows just quit operating from any door. and the door locks will only work on passenger side or from remote. Checked all fuses and does not appear to be the problem. HELP

mine does the exact same thing. no fuses out and everything in door panel is hooked up. it is like there is no power getting to the driver's door. How do you check the wires running away from the under dash or hood?

my power windows, locks and mirrors quit working. what should I do

  • hystiker Mar 05, 2009

Same problem. Sounded like a common master switch issue, so I bought a new one, put it in and .... still nothing.

Read this posting, checked it out for myself, lo and behold! Broken black wire, and it had been previously spliced by someone else. Also taped up the orange while I was in there, as that was starting to crack. Works like a charm and cost me about $.10

Thank God for the internet, anyone need a new door switch?

Just wanted to say THANK YOU!!

I had the same problem with the windows, mirrors, etc. My fiance pulled off the black wire was broken. Everyone here saved us a lot of time, money and aggravation!!

I have an 04 Jeep Grand Cherokee and experienced the same exact problem. Driver's side door controls not working and interior lights would not go out after closing the door. After reading the solutions posted to this problem, I checked the wiring in the grommet inside the door and sure enough the black wire was broken. I hooked it back up with a crimp connector and got all functions back. It seemed to fix all of the problems. Thanks to all readers posting solutions, saved me a lot of money.

THIS REALLY WORKS****** Saved atleast $600 easy
Ok so when you open your driver door there is a black boot that goes from the body of Jeep to the door (inside the Jam when you open door-its visable) Take this loose...inside there is a wire bundle...there was a black and orange wire in there that were both broken....All we did was strip these and reconnect them w/ all roll up and down..interior lights come on and the locks work and the power mirrors....I AM SO HAPPY THAT THIS WORKED SAVED ME SO MUCH $$$$

Listen to Solution #2 -- I checked this out on my 2000 Cherokee and it absolutely fixed the problem. The black ground wire had snapped in half and so had a mystery green wire. Cost about $1.00 for some **** connectors. The hardest part is getting to the wires past the boot -- but dont give up!

I had the same problem, The wires are so stiff that with repetitive motion they just snap in half. All you can do is slide the boot and splice them back together.

You can pop up the panel that holds the buttons check the underside that everything is hooked up then check fuses and if you need the buttons you can install them pretty easily

1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4 x 2, windows and door locks work on driver side, but not passenger side.

sounds like an open power or ground circuit on passenger side, since the door lock and the window, lost its functioning. Both switches would have to be bad at the same time, which is not probable, to be the fault. Unless there is a saftey lock out switch on the drivers panel, controling the passenger side door lock and window.

Hey man, I had this same exact problem today. In your door jam, there is a rubber boot that is enclosing wires for your powered options. Pull back the rubber boot and check the wires. I guarantee that there is atleast 1 broken if not more. Splice them back together and tape the **** out of them with electrical tape. let me know if this was the problem!! Hope this helps!

When you open the drivers door you can see a wiring harness between the door and the body of the car.
You more than likely have wires broken in there.
