SOURCE: MY VW CITI CHICO 2001 1.4i temperature guage faulty?

good chance you t-stat is stuck open that will cause the temp gauge to not get all the way to normal operating temp. also e.c.t can cause this problem. good luck hope that helps. to bridge your connector it will not really tell you to much if you take a multi meter and check the green wire and put the other wire to ground you can see the signal voltage less then 6v

SOURCE: I have a Golf 1

This problem is due to a bad coolant temp sensor, the sensor controls the fans and the gauge, if the sensor is not telling the computer the correct temp then the fans will not be turned on when they are needed, i would start with the temp sensor first and then go from there if theres still a problem.

SOURCE: vw golf 2001 temperature fluctuates

first thing to check is your coolant level. a lot of fluctuation will occur if the coolant level is low. if it is, be sure to find the leak to avoid engine damage. other causes can be plugged radiator, faulty thermostat, etc. but start with the coolant level.

SOURCE: vw golf chico 1.4 2004 brake pedal faulty

Check the brake switch, it may need adjustment or the rubber on the switch might be loose and on the pedal there is a pin and some sort of circlip. Check that also

The temperature gauge in my ford festiva 1995 does not work. Is it relatively easy to replace the sensor and if so where is it located in this car? Thanks

Ground the temperature gauge wire to the engine using a jumper wire, then watch the temperature gauge needle. If the gauge now reads Hot, replace the temperature sending unit. Check the fuse for the temperature gauge circuit. If the fuse is good, check for voltage at the ignition terminal on the gauge with turn the ignition key to the "on" position. Using a voltmeter. If there is no voltage, there is a problem in the circuit between the ignition key and the gauge or the fuse panel and the gauge temperature. Fix the problem and test again. If there is voltage, replace the gauge.

I have a 1.4 Chico 2001 model. I have replaced the thermastad and the gasket but the car still overheats, it seems like the fan does not switch on. Please help

Ok........before replacing the thermostat, I would have run the car for 15-20 minutes, then turned the engine offf.......then feel the top and bottom radiator hoses.....if they are the same, and the fan did not come on, then this would be the fault........however, if the top was boiling hot and the bottom was cold this would indicate a faulty thermostat...........

Next step, as the thermostat is new.......run this test again and if the hoses are different temperatures, then this might indicate a blocked radiator......BUT more info required....is the temperature gauge going past half way ?????
