Question about 2004 Mercury Mountaineer

1 Answer

I have a 2007 Mercury Mountaineer. It started fine last night. Wil not start at all today. I am getting power to the radio and lights and everything. It will click, but not start or turn over. Battery has been tested and is fine. Looked at fuse for the starter and it was ok.

SOURCE: 2001 Mercury Mountaineer won't start

Have a load test done on the battery. If it checks out good, take a voltmeter to the battery and have an assistant rotate the engine. If you see more than a 2 volt drop when the car is being started, the starter is heading south.

SOURCE: 2003 Mountaineer won't start, battery is good.

CHECK BATTERY CABLES AND FOR CORROSION,A BAD GROUND OR BAD CONNECTION WILL CREATE ENOUGH RESISTANCE TO PREVENT STARTER TO CRANK OVER ENGINE. IF BATTERY HAS 12V DOESN'T MEAN IT'S GOOD,IT COULD HAVE ON 100 CCA'S, NOT ENOUGH.

SOURCE: My car will not start

are you saying the starter makes a high pitch sound and the engine does not turn? if so then your starter is probably bad, if you do not want to spend $175 dollars for a new one, find your local salvage yard they should have one for around $25 dollars

SOURCE: 2007 Mountaineer. Battery Good,

Hi! The anti theft is triggered thats for sure thats why it will crank but won't run. You may need to install a remote start bypass. I provided a link to guide you on how it works. Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa! Please click here http://www.carmedia1.com/index1.html

2008 Mercury Mountaineer electrical issues

This is a devious problem which could lie anywhere. So many things not functioning would perhaps be a ground problem. Maybe take some extra care in cleaning the battery terminals, check if the ground wire is connected to the chassis. Do you have rodents in your area? Maybe they nibbled some wire somewhere?

2005 Mercury Mountaineer..gas gauge including miles to empty digital failed at the same time the radio and power windows did. Other guges and digital notifications work. fuses are good. Any ideas?

You have to have a professional scan tool put on
most vehicles today, to look at the systems data

If I had your truck I would start there

Then I could do nothing without wirng diagrams,
just to see the systems it has & give me a guide
to start some testing

2003 mercury mountaineer w rear A/C clicking noise coming from

OMG - I found that same problem last night. Did you have a problem with you door locks and radio afterwards. Today I found my door locks don't work and my radio won't shut off. I am so confused!! I also had my alternator replaced about 1 month ago and the "miles to E" gives me a message of "computing fuel" for a few minutes rather then "miles to E"

Have you found a solution yet?

Ignition

Sounds like the battery is dead, you have just enough power to have the lights come on, but no cranking of the starter. Try putting the battery on a trickle charger, or hook up jumper cables to another car which is running. Let it run with the jumper cables connected for two mintues before you try and start your car.
