I think my alternator isn't wired right. I need a diagram so I can rewire it. Does anybody have one?

I don't think my alternator is wired to charge my battery. If I had a diagram I could possibly find my problem.

2006 mazda tribute.The battery has been replaced and the alternator is not putting out quite the correct voltage but isn't really bad yet I don't think. It's will start ok for 4 or 5 days

Your going to need to replace the alternator, it may be charging the battery slightly and enough to get through a few days of starting the vehicle, but you will need to get the alternator replaced.

Battery drain

A wiring diagram of entire vehicle & the
ability to use a half decent volt meter, on the
amp & millamp scale

Pull all fuses,one at a time, until something
indicated the current drain & it stops

Need the meter in series in either battery cable &
ability to see the meter

You have to know what relays need to time out & see
if they do,so don't keep opening the door or you start
the process over.

The battery has to be good also
Not over 5 years old & has to read over 12.6 V when you start
your checking

If this is a 20 year old car,visually check for corroded
fusible links first & don't forget alternator diode leakage

2005 pt cruiser, mechanic says engine wiring harness shoted out. I want part number to find normal pricing, mechanic says he could rewire or replace. $578.00 replacement price. ouch Need a part number

that is bull you need a new mechanic unless the car cought on fire the wireing harnes can't just short out they are just wires think about it if there is a bad spot if you use the right conectors you can replace just the spot that is bad they don't put majic wires in cars stay away from that guy he is trying to rip you off!!!!!!!

My horn isn't working quite right. It only blows if you push the button in a certain place and that certain place moves around all the time. But even when it does blow, it stutters. I don't think...

if it was a fuse problem the horn wouldn`t make a sounds like the horn contacts that touch when you push on the button are not making proper contact each time.if you remove the horn button and look at the contact spots you may see the problem(uneven contact surfaces).if you move/bend the contact surfaces closer to each other of straighten this may help the may even have a horn that needs to be replaced as you said when it does work it stutters and not blow.the diaphragm in the horn can dry out and not vibrate like it should.try tapping on the horn when someone tries to blow the horn if it stops or gets louder then the diaphragm is no could also check the connection at the horn itself it may have a bad connection due to corrosion and just need cleaning.

From the diagram I am looking at, the red wire is the hot feed to the fuse block. it also loops back to the alternator and is plugged into the alternator along with a brown wire. I'm also looking at another leg that goes to the horn relay. What I'd do there is cut the wire right at the fuse block and replace it with another of the same gauge. Run it to the alternator, also removing the original wire. I'd check the alternator and make sure it's not internally shorting, check the wire from the battery to the alternator as well and also check the horn relay. While testing, I'd install an in-line 40 or 50 amp fuse in the line 'till I was sure it's working right. One good don't have an elaborate computer system to contend with! Remember....'vettes are more like boats in that they require grounds in places normal cars don't. (because of fiberglass body) So, always make sure your ground points are good. If you still have a problem, I'll be happy (not really....I hate reading schematics) to look again and give you more if I can.

My 88 Tracer started having problems with all dash lights being on. Then a day or two later over heated lost all antifreeze except small amt in overflow. Let it cool added some to radiator and overflow....

OK, first, I think it may be the alternator. If you charge the battery overnight, the engine should run for about an hour before it discharges again.
I don't think the coolant should affect the wiring.

There may be a fuse panel for the high current fuses in the engine compartment. It should be 30 amp or higher.

Does the generator/alternator/battery light come on when the key is in ON position?

What engine? 1.9L or 1.8L?
VIN Number?

Hi I have a 2008 Dodge and i don't have right turn signal and brake light on my trailer. I know it's not my trailer or fuses in the truck. I think it's in the wiring.

I would first check the plug in on the truck to see if it works there you may just have a bad ground is the plug in isn't working all you can really do is try to follow the wires to the problem or rewire the plug in.

I need the wiring diagram. I'am doing rewire on a 66 Chevy truck to a one wire hook up. I have anew pigtail plug with the excitor wire anda short wire lable alt barttery with a1/4 lug on it. Do you puy...

The red wire goes to the lug on the back of the alternator (B+ connection) You need to run another wire from that terminal directly to the battery. Normally, the remainder of your power accessories will be attached to the starter main terminal but you could run that from the battery as well since that's the other end of the same wire. I wouldn't use the alternator terminal for that only because the insulator on the terminal could overheat and melt if overloaded for any reason. In any case, everything except the wire between the battery and alternator should pass through the ignition switch so it's all off when the key is off.
