Question about 1997 Dodge Stratus

Blower fan clicking

I have a 97 stratus base with 66000 miles, the ac/heater blower fan is making a clicking sound( like theres something caught in the fan a leaf perhaps). I think it needs cleaned out or lubed. How do I access the blower fan?

Give the parts store the make and model and they should print the instructions out for you or look it up on line...good luck..

I had the same thing happen on my truck and I ended up taking off the fan motor, cleaning out leaf and cypress needles, relubing fan motor! I then reinstalled fan motor underneath the dashboard and problems are now gone!

I had the same problem with my '97 Stratus. There is a large resistor in the fan motor circuit that has died and needs to be replaced. It's well up under the dash, behind the glove box if I recall correctly, so unless you are a contortionist and have the tools, have a shop replace it.

SOURCE: Something dead inside the heat/ac fan

Remove the blower motor and see what's inside the cage. You might want to wear disposable rubber gloves in case you find a dead mouse or something. You may also need a mirror and flashlight to look around in the blower opening to find the critter. After it's all cleaned out you can spray some lysol disinfectant in the hole, on the evaporator fins, and the blower cage to remove some of the odor.

Sounds like EXACTLY what you described (I've had that happen before). There is a leaf (or similar plastic/natural object) in your fan blower. This is located under the dashboard, typically under (or most easily accessed from) the passenger floorboard. If lucky and like mine, it was a few bolts (3 or 4) to take the cover off (with the blower attached), and all kinds of dirt, and a big leaf, fell out. They get in when the outer air vents are open. Good luck!

2004 Dodge Stratus AC and Heater Problem

The area where you "hit" to make the unit go is your neighborhood for investigation.

Something is loose or not making a good connection.

If you discover that there are no loosenesses, sometimes a blower motor can get a dead spot, but typically, once going, the motor would not stop, with that condition.

VIbration in AC/HEATER fan

I've had mice in my Nissan PU and actually caught one in a trap set on the floorboard; so I know they can get inside. They also knocked some of the fiberglass insulation into the blower motor so it vibrated as it was no longer balanced. You could have a dead one in your blower. Mine was easily accessible from under the passenger side under the dash. Three screws and the motor dropped so I could clean out the fiberglass.

Heater and ac blower

I have an '04 with approx. 79000 miles; the blower is going out on mine too. The motor is probably burned out and you will need to replace it. It's about $90 for the part. Kind of a pain to change; I changed the blower motor on my 97 'prix and I had to lay upside down on the passenger seat and work on it upside down. Other than a little physically uncomforable, not too hard to do.
