Yes be sure the number one piston is at TDC firing stroke or compresson stroke and line up the timing mark pointer is pointed at exactly zero. One more thing when aligning the camshaft sprocket or sprockets be sure that when you are rotating the sprocket for the cam it is rotating in the correct direction and also be sure you observe the intake valve for number one shutting as you bring the marks up to alignment points, the intake valve and the exhaust valve should be shut when the marks line up if not you could have the cam sprocket off 180 degrees, get it right the first time or you may damage a valve trying to start.

Click on the link. I don't know your vin? This is for single overhead cam, line up the marks. You line up the marks before taking timing chain loose. Remove chain--camshaft gear--crankshaft gear as an assembly, install as an assembly.

Ignition timing is not adjustable.

How to set the timing chain on a 1995 nissan maxima

There are marks on each cam gear and on the crank gear, there are pointers or marks on the engine castings right by each gear, these all have to line up perfectly, there should also be a tensioner for the chain or belt. do not attempt to start the enging if they are not lined up, it is an interference engine and will damage the valves if the engine is out of time, check a repair manual for pictures of the marks to be sure

When they are lined the notch on the crank pully Will be a little befor the six o'clock position. The mark on the passenger side cam gear will be about the 11 o'clock position. The mark on the drivers side cam will be a little after the 12 o'clock position. The trimming chain will have three copper colored links. One by itself and two right next to each other. The single link will line up with the notch on the crank gear. The mark on the cam gear will line up in between the two copper colored links that are next to each other. Need cam timing specs 22r toyota truck

there will be two highlighted or dotted chain links for the camshaft and one for the crankshaft gear, position cam dot/TDC indicator in the 12-O clock position, the two dotted links should be on ether side of cam dot, turn crank dot to the 6-O clock position and line up highlighted link with dot on crank gear, if timing cover is on, then make sure cylinder 1 is at TDC when the two links are at 12-O clock.

Timing chain setting for 89 Firebird

Yes, there are two timing marks, one on the crank gear, and one on the cam gear. The crank gear mark needs to be at the top, and the cam gear mark needs to be at the bottom (lined up w. one another).
