Question about Cars & Trucks
I just got a 1988 fleetwood southwind motorhome with a 454 chevy motor.I think the transmission is a 400. The guy I got it from changed the flywheel and now it will not go in reverse. He said it worked fine before. He also said fluid comes out of fill tube when warmed up.It is not filled way too much. Foreward goes good. Can this be fixed? I can get a transmission thats good from a 1983 mines an 89 Fleetwood Southwind motorhome also with a 454 chevy engine. Can I just bolt that one right on?

SOURCE: WHAT IS THE EASEST WAY
There is no easy way, you will need a crane, engine hoist, take out the seats, engine cover, floor boards, radiator, grille, anything and everything in the way. Pull the heads off, pull the motor, rebuild or whatever, put back in with the heads on and torqued up, I hope it fits that way, I'm sure there are tricks to it, but it is a job. I did one a while ago, not very much fun, but we did it. Hope this helps.
