Yes. First, are there 2 master cylinders under the hood? If so, there is a slave cylinder by the transmission, under the car.
The larger master cylinder should be for your brakes, and it should have about maybe 4 or 6 brake lines attached to it.
The clutch master cylinder should usually have one brake line attached to it.
If you will follow that brake line down, you should find the slave cylinder at the other (lower) end of it.
As far as whether it needs changing, these two things will tell. Does it leak or stick?
From your description, sounds like it is sticking.
Be advised, you might also have a problem inside your transmission bell housing with the clutch, the throwout bearing, or something else.

SOURCE: Torque specs for mighty max

Per my Chilton's manual tehe bolts should be (cold engine) 65 to 72 FT. Pnds., the cam shaft bearing bolts should be 8x25 = 15 - 19 Ft pnds and the 8x65 should be 14 - 15 Ft Pnds.

The sequence is as follows for the (10 ) head bolts:

7 - 5 - 2 - 4 - 10

9 - 3 - 1 - 6 - 8

I hope this may help,
Tom

SOURCE: replace valve seals on a 1988 mitsubishi mighty

The safest way is to remove the head and work on a bench. With the use of a special tool you can change the valve seals with the heads on (worst case scenario you drop a valve and have to remove the head to retrieve it). When you remove the overhead cam or the rockers all the valves will be closed. If you remove the spark plug and screw in an air nozzle hooked up to an air compressor you can remove the valve springs, with a valve spring compressor, and replace the stem seals. It will take about 100 psi and you will want to replace the seals one at a time. You should be able to buy the air compressor fitting for the spark plug hole from Mac or Snap-on. I made one from an old spark plug by knocking out the porcelain and attaching a hose and air line fitting (risky, but it worked on my Goldwing)

Why is my gear shift so hard to move??

I believe your clutch is not disengaging fully. When this happens it may be hard to get into first gear but subsequet shifts are easier due to the fact the vehicle is moving. You probably have a hydraulic clutch system which is low on fluid or may have air in the system. Before shifting into first gear or reverse try pumping the clutch pedal 5 or 6 times then shifting, if it goes into gear easier after this then you probably have air in the system, it can be bled similar to bleeding brakes. If this doesnt work you might be low on fluid, or have a bad master or slave cylinder.

that delayed reaction may be the transmission slipping. with those many miles it could be the transmission going bad

1990 dodge varavan will not go into reverse

It is more then likely either a solenoid or a clutch pack. If you hear a bump and then nothing when you shift, it is probably the clutch pack, if nothing happens, it is more then likely the solenoid. The bad news, it will require a rebuild either way. Reverse gears are some of the hardest to change, and especially on that transmission, it will be quite a process to repair.

Grinding when in reverse and tries bogging down at lights

stop shifting so hard. your reverse gear is the same exact gear as your first, so if you shift hard and grind that gear a little then reverse will be harder to get into. you probably need your transmission rebuilt the harder your engine has to work the more its going to bogg down
