Question about Lincoln Continental
How do should i have everything lined up. does anyone have a diagram of what your timing chain set should look like when at TDC?
If you plan on doing any more engine work, you really need a book.
When you sell the car having a set of books adds value.
Generally speaking, Ford 8 cylinder engines had a mark or notch on each gear and the notches are aligned to face each other.
Crank notch on top and cam notch on bottom.

Haynes lists the entire procedure for setting the position of the cams etc. Positioning of these is critical...If off by even a slight amount the valves WILL strike the pistons and destroy the engine. DO NOT use any parts made by SA Gear...They have no quality control and will deny any claim made against them. Make sure that the chain guides are in good condition and that the chain tensioner is operating properly.
