Ok, i am a locksmith and it sounds as if the key is bad. I come across this everyday on the road. The best thing to do is go to a accreditied locksmith and have it cut a new key by key code. I good locksmith will be able to read the key and cut it by looking at it. Hope that helps. Also, please dont put wd40 in any lock, it s only really good for water dispalcement, and not locks, its dries them out. Use a good lubricate like liquid wrench in the yellow or blue cans.

I have a 2001 pontiac sunfire that will turn over but won't start.

Check ignition system or scan with diagnostic scan tool, due to complexity of newer model cars and the use of computer systems, there are a variety of sensors and relays that can go defective.

My 2000 pontiac sunfire wont start when i turn the key. It just makes a continuous clicking noise for as long as I hold the key trying to start it. The. Starter had problems before but than it

first off does it have a remote starter hooked to it, if so disable it, my daughters car did the same thing till I took the remote out sometime the remote won't let you start manually in it is still engaged. next make sure all your connections are tight (battery ans starter, I bought a starter at a local parts store it was only acouple of months old for her car it started to do the same thing so I took it back and it failed their test ended up getting a new one. also check the rely located on the left fender wall it is marked starter it may be bad.

My gfs car has problems starting its a 98 pontiac sunfire it takes about two or three turns of the key my gf thinks its the fuel pump if the fuel punp was bad how would the car act would it be hard to...

It could be the fuel pump ,Or .. injectors are dirty and the rush of fuel clears the sludge then it starts after three four turns

Try to spray starter fluid in to it one time before you do anything else just to see if its getting fuel on initial start

spray into air intake right into throat of carburator IF it starts right up then it could be starved for fuel at first start

Starter Hitting Flywheel

It sounds alot like a faulty ignition switch rather than a starter. The starter should never kick before moving to the start position.

2001 pontiac sunfire wont start just keeps turning over light on dash board that looks like a lock keeps coming on don't know what this is. Fuel pump is working.

on a similar problem i had occured it is the theft lock that GM uses. You have to put the key in the ignition turn to ACC wait ten minutes and turn it off. You MUST do this three times and then the theft lock will turn off. Once that is out of the way it SHOULD start.

Ingtion switch bad 04 pontiac sunfire

Key Lock or electrical switch? I'll guess the electrical need to drop steering post to get to it. You can find instructions in most any manual...If no manual, beware of yellow wire it triggers air bag!!! Disconnect battery before doing work and know if your radio needs a code to get it working again before you start! It's not a terribly hard job unless you don't like working in tight places and have no patience.
