This could be a number of things but i think that your problem sounds like a vacuum leak or an EGR problem. Try listening for leaks and try un-plugging the EGR solenoid valve one time.

SOURCE: engine light was on and engine idles rough.

these O2 sensors are cat convertor check sensors. id be checking cat convertors and hopefully you should try replacing if not all ready is the front bank 2, O2 sensor
if you have scanner can you see fuel trims in data display to confirm high fuel trim only on bank 2 either +-5 or more indicates problem and if bank 2 sensor 2 has fixed high 700mv reading cat no good(warm idling)

Bad EGR valve comes to mind here. Assuming the plugs are good, the EGR valve woiuld be what I'd look at.

SOURCE: 95 GMC Sierra 4x4 350 5.7 rough idle problem

It sounds like a MAP sensor going bad. MAP is short for manifold absolute pressure sensor, it senses the manifold pressure and applies the right amount of gas with the right amount of ignition timing so the car runs and performs well if this does not work properly. It throws off the whole loop cycle for the computer, which in turn makes it run badly and get poor fuel economy. It can causes the engine to have a lack of power, combined with a loss of fuel economy. Poor take offs and sometimes an occasional stalling may occur if the MAP sensor is faulty and sending the wrong signals to the ECM.
Hope this helps and thank you for using Fixya.

1996 chevy 350. Why does it idle poorly but runs well under load?

At higher RPM's. Usually a vacuum leak. This could be rubber vacuum lines or the intake manifold gasket. Use WD40 and spray around the intake and vacuum ports. If it smooths out a bit. You found the proximity of the leak.

87 chevy 2.0 in a caviler will not idle . runs wide open with out touching acc.pedal . replaced idle air solenoid and position sensor.

Intake manifold air leak. Could be a crakced or missing hose to the brake booster. Any way air can get past the throttle plate will speed up the engine.

1989 Chevy 4wd 350 idles high all the time. Also sounds like a bad vacuum leak but can't find out where

get a can of carb cleaner and spray along the edge of the intake manifold as well as the vacuum line (including the brake booster), if the idle increase when you spray it then the arear last sprayed is where your vacuum leak is

1996 chevy k1500 runs when idleing slight miss drives down the road fine but when comming to a stop it dies

When the light flashes it means a cylinder misfire, so you must check everything, spark, (first) injector fuel delivery intake manifold vacuum leaks and compression if not other problem accounts for the misfire.

Hello I have a 1996 chevy truck 5.7 with a automatic trans and I just replaced the intake manifold gaskets, it runs really good but now the transmission slips in third gear.. did I hook somthing up wrong?...

There isn't anything related to the trans from the intake manifold other then the shift cable support bracket. Check to see if the adjustment of the cable was disturbed when the gasket was replaced, it may not be fully in drive.

Change the distributor cap and rotor now car wont start

you may have the firing order wrong
look on the intake manifold you should see the firing order
it should be 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2
on each side of the intake there are number 1-3-5-7 on one side and 2-4-6-8 on the other side

Clean the EGR valve seat. The EGR may have become stuck. A good way to check for vacuum leaks is to use smoke near every intake vacuun hose . And near the intake manifold. The valve will **** in the smoke. If you clean the EGR valve and it still misses. Replace it. The EGR can cause random misfire.

HIGH IDLE ON 1995 GMC SUB 350 TB

Low / uneven idle problem can cause by a lot of components.

Dirty air filter

Dirty injectors + o-rings

Vacuum leak at intake manifold and vacuum hose.

Bad Idle Air Control Motor (IAC)

Low compression (170 psi + is OK)

Start cleaning and repair these trouble spots and see is there any improvement.

====

For more advance DIY'er then you may try this.

Use a can of Berryman carburetor clean to locate the vacuum leak.

SEE SAMPLE PICTURE HERE

This is a 20-30 minutes job.

Vacuum leaks can occur in following locations.

Intake manifold AND/OR vacuum lines.

Intake manifold is not accessible unless the engine head if off.

You can still check the potential leak by spraying some Berryman near the intake manifold.

Listen for rpm increase after you introduce the Berryman (FUEL) at idle.

Do the same starting from the brake booster unit (the round unit) on the drive side fire all.

Carefully listen for increase of RPM right after to spray the Berryman to the potential vacuum spot.

Get a friend to HEAR the ROM increase or monitor for RPM on the tech.

DO NOT AIM the Berryman into any heat source.

PLEASE RATE my answer if it is useful to you.
