Question about Peugeot 206

2001 Peugeot 206 1.1 Stalling after revving

I have had issues before with the car not starting but turned out to be loose wiring. Yesterday I hit a bumb in the road and the engine light come on for a few seconds and the car attempted to stall but continued to run, this happened twice on the way home. I went out later that night, stopped at the traffic lights and the car stopped but turned over straight away. I have gone out this morning to take a look and found after revving the car it nearly stalls every time, I can also hear a whistling coming from the engine bay but cannot track it down yet (seems to be from the back of the bay). Does anybody have any idea where I could start, I have read around but not definite answer has been found.

As the engine light came on there should be a fault code stored in the memory that should provide a clue.

When searching for whistles and other noises listening through a piece of hose can be a helpful way to pinpointing the source.

I had the same problem with my dodge neon. Its your transmission slipping. My car had to have all the transmission flushed and it helped alot, but the longer you let it go, the damage could be permanent.

SOURCE: 94 subaru legacy wagon stalls when engine is warm then starts when cool

Have the battery and alt tested for free at the local parts store.
Tell them what it's doing, and start suspecting a fuel issue.
Could be getting the right amount of fuel but not burning it. (plugs, wires, coil)
Or could not be getting enough fuel.

Still hard to say, so get the charging/power system checked first.
Let me know what you find out as I'm real curious now.

Same happened to a friend and it was the fuel pump....
Same for another friend and it was 2 bad coil packs.

Peugeot 206 stalling, either cuts off or I floor the gas pedal

When you "floor the gas pedal" the computor goes into a bypass mode (emergency mode). This honestly sounds a lot like a problem I ran into a while back on a Dodge truck. Problem was a cracked intake manifold (plastic). Short version: vacuum leak.

2001 Peugot 206 Stalling after revving

whistling sounds and the high rpms to a stall situation could be a loose /broken vacuum pipe possible to the transmission actuator ( automatic)
happening after a bump could be from broken engine mounts , loose ground points, harness connections loose loose battery terminals

Check the fuel pressure regulator for to much pressure.Pull the vacuum hose off the map sensor and if fuel runs out then replace the regulator.

I have a Peugeot 206 xsi 2002. When turning mostly right there is a grinding noise on drivers side. I've checked go any debris it may be catching on. No debris. It also sounds like the engine is...

Revving quite high when starting is normal if the engine is cold. The revving is caused by extra fuel via the automatic choke and this reduces to normal running noise level when the engine has heated up. Assuming your car is regularly serviced i.e. oil, filters, etc and if this is not normal behavior I would recommend using a good 'total fuel system cleaner' additive as this will clean your fuel system that may have built up dirt over time and not be working at 100%. As regards the grinding noise on the drivers side when turning - this could most likely be your CV joint (Check the rubber seal for cracks and grease and if so have it replaced immediately before it seizes) or it could also be a worn suspension joint or even a worn/jammed brake pad (noticeable when breaking). Either way you need to take it to your mechanic.

I have a 2001 206 gti and the engine just died

hiya mate if you have got a live at the fuel pump when engine is turning over then your relay is working.
you could possably have a fauly crank position sensor (which can be checked using a code reader) which would stop the engine from starting, also check the fuel pressure switch has not been activated (this is located on the n/s/f inner wing and is a small black unit with a red cap on it)
it would also be a good idea to make sure the timing belt has not snapped.
