SOURCE: my locked door won't open

I have a 2005 Xterra and the same thing started happening to me on an intermitent basis. The dealership eventually replaced the guts of the door release equipment under warrenty but that was after 3 trips to the dealership.
Now my rear hatch won't open. My theory is that after an total repaint (hail) in the summer of 2006 the body shop made something out of wack with these door mechanisms.

SOURCE: 2003 Nissan Murano hatch back door won't unlock or open

I have a 2004 Murano. I opened the small hatch and with a screw driver and someone on the outside managed to open the hatch. The problem appears to be bent pieces inside. After straightening them out and using a good silicon spray, mine works again. It should be lubricated quite frequently.

How to open passanger door on 2007 yukon Denali when door lock does not work

If it won't open from the inside, then the child proof lock is engaged. it is actived by a small arm on the door jam and is unactivated the same way. If this is not your problem, then the linkage is probably undone or damaged. Repair requires the removal of the door panel to access.

My door on my 1992 honda civic won't open from the outside

Sounds like the linkage came undone inside the door! u will have to open the door from the inside and remove the inner door panel! look toward the door handle from the inside and see if the clip broke or the linkage came undone!

I got a 97 jeep TJ. I am locked out of my jeep the locks on both doors dont unlick at all. I put the key in it turn but does not unlock it's now been three days trying no luck

it almost sounds like the lock to latch linkage is disconnected or broken -- or the latch itself is broken(?),, but I can't imagine both of them being broke :-( --- what is the temperature of where you are right now ? is it super cold ?? ( the latches could be frozen up ).
the only thing that I could think of doing is slim Jimming the door open --- the inside linkage control rods run horizontally from the door latch to the inside lock/unlock lever,, if you can make a 'L' shaped tool out of some stiff wire and put a small gripping bend in the lower end to grip the linkage -- you might be able to wedge a gap between the window and door ( using wooden wedges ),, you might be able to grab the linkage and get the Jeep to unlock.. now if you do not want to take the chance of breaking the window or you do not have a stiff enough wire to do the job --- I would just pay a locksmith the 45 dollars too come out and open the Jeep,, and then when you get the doors open I would pull the inside panels and fix the linkage/latch problems.
and now that I think about it --- does your Jeep not have a rear door that works with a key ?? if it does,, just get in that way and unlock the doors manually and then fix the problem.

2006 Chevy cobalt The passenger door will not open no matter what I do. I was trying to unlock it and a guy was trying to open at the same time it will not open at all???

mcdevito75 here, Sounds like the linkage inside the door fell off and is not operateing the lock release. Bring the car to a repair shop that fixes Glass, Locks they should be able to open the door with a special tool then remove the inside panel to check all the linkages.

Door does not open when unlocked, when I unlock my doors, the inside handle does not open the door but it will open from the outside, (most of the time)

There are linkages inside the door that go from the handle to the actual part that unlatches the door, it sounds like a linkage has come undone or is bent.

Roll the window up and remove the inside door panel, you should have a limited view of the linkages. Replace/repair as necessary and your problem should be fixed.

Driverside inside door won,t open the dr or even unlock the drs handle is pulled to release?

more likely the door handle mechanism is either broken or came undone, the only way to get to it and see what broken or came off is to remove the door cover panel, its not easy job and its time consuming if not mechanical incline although it something fairly simple to fix and repair. you may just have to replace inner door handle if it broken off from the linkage.

Passenger side door will not open from inside or outside. 1995 Nissan Maxima. It seems like the door lock is not disengaging all of the way. The latch handle on the inside feels like the rod is still...

linkage on inside of door has come undone. take off inside door panel and you will find a small rod that goes to the lock mechanism where the door closes opposite the hinges. follow the handle to the door lock.the nylon bushing may have broken.they are cheap to purchase at auto part stores.

Both front doors on my "93" Corsica won't open.

You have to open the Window all the way And I Assume your looking Down Threw the Glass opening to View the Linkage,

their is a Spring for the Return of the latch, While looking at the Latching system, Look for the Spring that When you "Try" to open the Door it's Suppose to Compress, Most likely the Spring is Not Fully Releasing,

You may try WD40, And work the handles for a few mins and Then Try to Unlock the door for it to open, OR you can Try a LONG Screw drive to Slide the Spring to fully Non compressed state and then Make sure the Door Lock is in the Open State before you try the handles..
