  • Charcoal canister is clogged, loaded with fuel or with moisture
  • Fuel filler cap missing, loose (not tightened) or the wrong part
  • Fuel tank over-fill check valve cracked or damaged
  • Fuel tank seal leaking, fuel tank cracked or damaged/leaking
  • Fuel vapor hoses/tubes blocked or restricted, or fuel vapor control valve tube or fuel vapor vent valve assembly blocked
  • Vacuum hose or tubing cracked, damaged or disconnected
  • PCM has failed

This code sets in 2 Trip(s).First I would try making sure the gas cap is tight. You need to give it 2 trips before it may reset. The other choice would be to replace it, Cheaper than spending money on a professional.

Reset check engine lite 2002 lexus es 300

The way to stop the check engine light is to pull the error code(s) from the computer and resolve what is indicated. REMEMBER the code is a CLUE and not necessarily the issue, for example, an intake leak can cause a oxygen sensor to register out of range....
The light would reset automatically, in absence of errors.

Why would my check engine light come on and stay on in my 2001 lexus IS 300

It is on because there is a problem with the emissions system. First make sure you fuel cap is on tight. You will need to have the ECU scanned with an OBD2 scan tool. This tool will tell you what code has been set by the ECU (computer). The code will tell you what part is being effected but not necessarily what part is defective. Determining that takes a knowledge of how this works and training. Some auto parts stores will scan the ECU free of charge. Unless you know how to troubleshoot the problem I suggest you seek professional help.

Check engine light on in 93 Lexus

The only way to check why the check engine light is on is to have autozone or a mechanic put a scanner on the car and read the engine codes. This will tell you exactly what is wrong. Many part stores will test it for free. Mechanics will charge about $40 But you will definately know exactly what the problem is.

If gauge is fine and car smells hot. It is probably due to plugged exhaust unless you have a wire laying on the exhaust manifold and it's melting.

"Check the engine" light is on

You can still drive it. But, it's something that should be look into as soon as possible. It could be a small thing, or something leading to a big thing.
There are many reasons why the check engine light comes on.
Best thing to do is take to an autoparts store. Most of them will pull the trouble code from the on-board computer for free.
They should tell you what the codes mean. If they can't, come back here to this post and I'll go over them with you.

VSC/ Check Engine Light

My 2000 Lexus GS 400 just had the VSC/VSC off light and the check engine light come on. I would have to push the accelarator peddle all the way down to get it to go. Took it to the Toyota dealer and the code pulled up as the Throttle Position Sensor was out. Purchased one and having it put in. Will update if this fixes the problem.

The first and last code are your start and stop so you can ignore them the P1130 and P1150 are your two front oxygen sensors( pre cats ) bank one and two. Depending on your millage it sounds like it is time for a little maintence. Normally they should be changed at or around 60,000 kms

Engine Light

The check engine light has nothing to do with the oil, water etc. it signals that a fault has occurred in the engines electronic controls and it has failed a test of some system that the cars computer runs every few minutes while the engine is running, it can be one of a 100 different systems that made the light come on, take the car to a Kragen Auto parts store or another chain parts store like it and ask them to run a OBD 2 system test (it's free), this will retrieve the trouble code(s), post the code(s) back on this thread and I will explain what it will take to repair.
