My 1998 chevy lumina brake lights won't light up when pressed. I have chaged all fuses and light bulbs. Am I missing any other place for fuses?

I've had this problem. I tested everything and in my situation it was the four way switch that controls the blinker/high low beams/cruise control. If you depress the peddle, push the blinker lever forward or backward slightly you may see the brake lights come on. you would then know this switch is worn.

This would be a multifunction switch which turn signal switch wipers ect. run through located on steering column under plastic cover.assuming the brake light switch is good see if third brake light works when you press the pedal if so it is deffintly the multi switch.

After driving the care for 20min or so and stop. When i return to the car the transmission seems to be stalling. I have to apply allot of gas just to get moving again. When i eventually stop there is engine coolant flooding out of the car onto the driveway.

Two of my brake lights aren't working, i already repalced the bulbs and it still did not work. i have a 1995 chevy lumina.

Sounds like a faulty brake light switch or a blown fuse. Check the fuse first and then the switch....near the brake pedal. Good luck

1998 chevy lumina: rear window brake light not working, left brake light not working, rear left turn signal not working

See if bulbs have burnt out in the left brake light and rear turn signal (one bulb if combined) and also rear center high mount brake light.

If the left turn signal has a slower speed than the right turn signal, this is a symptom of a bulb or bulbs burnt out.

Usually, the wiring is not a problem, but I would not rule wiring (or sockets) as a problem out.

Good luck on this repair.

I am having problems with rear brake lights, checked all bulbs, replaced brake switch, fuses checked, loose wires, both running lights and signal work, car is a2001 chevy lumina

Check the turn signal switch. especially if the center brake is the only brake light that comes on when you step on the brake pedal. Sometimes wiggling the switch will get the brake lights to work momentarily.

Window brake light works but both trunk brakes don't work.

Check your bulbs. Though unusual that both would go out at the same time. I believe brake bulbs are the 1156's but not positive on the newer models. It may be posible that ifone brake light goes out it won't allow a connection to the other one. Check the filiments in both and see if you see a breakage of pieces floating around inside the bulbs.
If that is not the case then get another 12 volt battery
and run a wire to the ground wire or you can find a place on the chassis/metal part of the body, and then run a wire directly to the positive wire connecting to the brakes. If the builbs light up then you know it is an electrical problem in the wiring and will have to trouble shoot that.

Just bought second hand 98 chevy lumina and someone stopped me saying I have no brake lights, so I checked and I only see a place for backup lights and turn signal lights. Why do I not have any break...

The brake light in the rear window and the main brake lights are on a different circuit. After the signal leaves the activating switch on the brake pedal arm, it splits. One circuit goes straight to the high mount brake light, the other goes into the turn signal switch. If the rear turn signals work but the brake lights don't, suspect the turn signal switch, not the bulbs and wires. Better to check this before removing and checking bulbs, wires and fuses. It is a common problem with the W-body cars like Lumina, Monte Carlo, Buick Regal, Olds Cutlass and Pontiac Grand Prix. (Approx 94-99 models). Part number is GM 190005031 (w/o radio accessory control) or 19005032 (with radio controls)

Brake Light Problem -1997 Chevy Lumina

The ground wire in the trunk area, coming from the brake light harness, might have come off or really loose. Hope this will get your lights working again. Best wishes.
