SOURCE: replace broken fuel door 2000 dodge caravan

If you're on the smallish side and pretty limber, you might avoid removing the rear wheel. If not, you will likely need to remove the rear wheel and put the van on jack stands securely. I would remove the underside splash shield and gain access from underneath. It looks like you will need to unscrew the plastic insert that surrounds the filler neck inside the area that is exposed when you open the fuel door. Make sure you get the vent hooked up correctly when you are done.

3.8 crack in exhaust manifold whats involved in changeing it

the 3.8 ltr engine is a v6 configuration , so there are two exhaust manifolds... one at the rear (firewall side) and one in front.

the front one is easier to replace of course.

Had exhaust manifold replaced since then my 2001 caravan bucks and blows black smoke little to no power

if you replaced the manifold because it was cracked the look for a plugged cat convertor..the cracked manifold was probably letting the exhaust it builds too much back pressure

What is the easiest way to replace the pigtail on the harness that conects to the upstream o2 sensor on a 1996 dodge grande caravan 3.3L

Just cut and splice. 1 black wire, 1 grey wire, 2 white wires just color match. You may want to remove the upper intake plenum to gain access though. Might as well plan on replacing the o2 sensor while your at it. If the plug got melted because it rested on the exhaust manifold, you probably wont get it unplugged. Not sure where to obtain a replacement plug though. You may have to hit some salvage yards.

How too take the belt tensioner off from the block

The tensioner on that vehicle has a stud made into the assembly. Underneath the vehicle, above the power steering pump, below the exhaust manifold, there is a 15mm nut. you will need a swivel socket and just the right combination of extentions to remove this nut. Once removed the tensioner will pull right off. Make sure to remove the serpentine belt before doing this, and you will probably need an extra hand holding the new tensioner in place while starting and tightening the nut.

I need to remove the exhaust manifold on the driver's side to access a freeze plug at the back of the block. Any special concerns for r&r of the manifold?

May not need to totally remove the manifold. Use a spray lub (I use Movit) and spray the exhaust bolts liberally on cooled down engine. Let sit for an hour or more (or follow instructions on can) Then use 6 point sockets on the bolts and rock back and forth to remove. Once all of the bolts are out you should be able the move the manifold back far enogh to expose the frost plug. When you put the exhaust back on - be sure and use anti-seaze on the bolts along with your new gaskets. Get all of the bolts started before you torque them to spec.

Are you sure its the exhaust manifold? I thought so on mine, but turned out to be the crossover pipe. If so, the crossover is only available from dealer and is ~$550. When removing old pipe, bolts are very difficult to get to, and some are only removable from one side (they are studs). I found the site below has excellent instructions with diagrams. Important! Before installing, ensure the bolts fit through the holes in the new part (mine did not).
