My VW Microbus 2.6i exclusive (1999) jerks when in second gear why?

About 2 months ago we mistakenly filled the tank with unleaded petrol instead of the usual LRPetrol. About a month later the vehicle jerks when in second gear. Is this serious and is it related to the nleaded petrol?

SOURCE: My Mazda MPV randomly begins to

the gas cap and check engine light thing are related in terms of the EVAP system, or the evaporative emisions system. This is NOT where your surge, or "chug" is coming from. The surge could be coming from a Exhaust Gas Recurculation valve that is starting to bind or "hang up" a bit. DO you notice this happens more at lights, or when coming to a stop? if so it could be an idle air control vavle.

SOURCE: Is there an adjustment on a 1999 suburban steering gear box

Yes there are Pitman shaft over-center preload and worm thrust bearing preload. There are special procedures and tools needed for both of these and the steering gear needs to be out of vehicle and drained.Hope this helps.

SOURCE: My 2000 Beetle is jerking when it changes gears.

when it jerks during gear changes it could be a couple of things.

First of all, check the fluid level in the automatic transmission.

Secondly, check the mounts for the engine that they're tight and secure and if they are then

Thirdly, ask the transmission shop if the torque converter is bad in it.

The torque converter could be locked up somehow causing this jerking and I wouldn't be surprised if the transmission shop lists a recall on it.

Actually, even if there is NO recall on it, tell the transmission shop that put the transmission in to check it out, and if possible rectify it under warranty.

I wish you luck in getting this fixed correctly.

What do I do about diesel fuel in an unleaded tank and engine

Drain as much as possible diesel out of the tank and fill up the tank with unleaded petrol. Initially the engine will be difficult to start and maybe run a bit rough but will improve quickly. Diesel will not damage the engine but will have a affect on the first start and running of the engine until all the diesel is washed out of the engine.

Do I use un-leaded petrol to fill the tank ?

You will need to say what vehicle this is for. It may require standard unleaded, premium unleaded, or it may be able to use E10, or even E15 or E20.

possible cure would be to put petrol through and clear a sludge that's built up. run the engine for 10 mins on tick over. failing that check timing. ex recon engineer. retired

I have a 1999 Volkswagen Microbus Exclusive 2.6I which runs on leaded petrol. Two months ago we filled the tank inadvertently with unleaded petrol. Now the vehicle jers in second gear. Has this got to

easy to check. look under the vehicle close to the manifold and if you see an oval shaped stainless steel containerther you most likely will have a c/c. next point if you use leaded in a unleaded vehicle it will affect the catalytic converter buy causing it to block up.next the oxygen senson may be contaminated and not sending the right readings to the cpu so the engine management system will be affected. Best have it checked at a dealer before you do any more damage.

Dodge Dakota Pick-up Truck - 1995

hello matilda,

im not sure if the reason is the leaded gasoline that you put, but if you want to replace the gasoline in the tank, you can trace if there is a drain bolt under the tank then drain the gas in the tank. be safety consious since your handling flamamble liquids. then if you can trace your fuel line that goes to the engine, you can flush that too with air. then when your sure that the tank is empty and the lines are clean, you can fill it up with your correct unleaded gas and have a good battery ready and crank your engine until the new gas is in the engine already and i hope it would start now.

i hope i was able to help you.

pls rate me..

tnx
