Same problem left side turn signal only works part time. All light bulbs are good. Switch on and it will or wont work depending on how the Jeep feels. But when turning on the left turn signal and it not working turning the hazards on then off will get the left turn signal working. I wonder if its the switch in the steering column or the combination flasher. Banging hands on wheel in a fit of rage some times works too. Each one is a $100 bucks and I dont really want to just start replacing parts. Any ideas?

    Thanks

Exact same thing is happening with my 2000 Grand Cherokee and I fix it the same way as bill38851 does. If I turn the hazards on and engage the left turn signal, then turn off the hazards, the left turn signal remains on . Also, it sometimes works after I've driven for awhile. Maybe the cold has something to do with it?

I can't imagine it's a bad bulb, because I would think that if it were a bad bulb, then I'd never be able to get the left turn signal to work.

I can't find a replacement for the turn signal mechanism as every online parts store I visit has a turn signal switch for cars that don't have automatic lights, which mine does.

You need a multifunction switch, not hard to replace 3 screws in the column shroud then take both shroud halves off and there it is. to get the part just take your vin to your local dealer and tell them multifunction switch

I have found that it is the flasher relay. its under the dash you have to take of the lower dash cover upper steering column cover and reach way up in there pop it out and put in a new one or wiggle the old one (thats what i did with a little down tilt to it has worked for 3 weeks now) tell it works. its a dealer only part and they said its a $100 bucks. i used to think it was the steering column switch now dont.

The flasher unit on this model is electronic and mechanical. I have had many problems with mine. Go to the junkyard and get a used one for about 5 bucks or less. Another common problem if only one lamp is out in the rear, is the contact where you put the bulb into, and the contact area that makes connection when you twist the bulb holder into position. Look carefully at these areas and you will notice the plastic is melted. You will need to MacGiver a solution for this one. I lifteed the contact, then put epoxy under it and waited for it to set. this holds the contact up in contact with the lamp holder contact. Same problen on 200 through 2004.

If you have problems with turn signals, ignore comment above about combination switch. we had ours replace and it did not fix the problem! You will waste your money! will post when we find the solution.

Left brake and turn signal lights are out on my 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee

If they are two different bulbs, I would look for a ground wire problem.
If the two lights are the same bulb, could be a socket or turn signal switch problem.

How to fix my right brake light and fast moving turn signal on my 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

The most likely problem is two burned out light bulbs. A burned out tail/stop lamp on the right side and a burned out brake lamp on the left. If you have already replaced the bulbs, then yes, the circuit boards are the next most likely cause of the problem.

I have a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee. My problem is that when the engine is ON my left brake light WILL NOT light up when the brake is applied... BUT when the engine is OFF, and the brake is applied, the...

the only thing that should separate the right and left brake light is the turn signal switch i think if tis vehicle has seperate light bulbs for the turn signals and brake lights it will not involve the turn signal swicth. either way ther is a voltage loss somewhere. test with a voltmeter at the brake light switch with the engine on and off,if it is vastly deferent go back to the fuze and ceck both sides of that, then back to the ignition switch.you should probably locate a wiring diagram.if the brake light and turn signals are the same bulbs you will need to ceck the turn signal switcth.this is removeable after taking off the plastic cover behind the steering wheel and held on by two scews very small torx head scews.it is referd to as a combination switch.
