Mike T., the cut off switch is working properly. All components are working. Power is reaching the components, but, horn and cruise control will not work. When using a wire to touch bar and ground, the horn works, but will not work when the button ids depressed.

Mike T., Thank you for your follow-up. I have power to everything and the ground has been checked and confirmed. The metal support strips for the aibag unit have power and should complete the circuit when depressed, but they don't. If a wire is used to make contact between the strips and the steering body, the horn works. Electricity flows through all the cruise control buttons, however, I cannot get any electricity to come out of the ON button. We have tried several new control button units, receiving the same resuts.

Thank you for your response, but this is an automatic transmission.

Is the steering column grounded? I would try grounding the whole column and see if that helps. It is possible it lost its ground or someone left a ground strap off.

SOURCE: the horn and cruise control doesn't work, fuses are

the horn input to ground is located in the cruise control module. if they both don't work then your cruise control module or the clockspring coil for the steering wheel needs to be replaced. If airbag lights is on as well then I would change the clockspring coil first.

My horn isn't working on a Chevy equinox but it's a new horn. What could be wrong with it..and my cruise control don't qork. Is it my steering wheel?

Was Cruise Control working before the New Horn was installed? The power supply to the Horn, (input to ground wire) is connected to the Cruise Control Module (CCM). This CCM is wired to the Relay Switch Box located in the Engine Bay. The Relay Box cover will have a Chart indicating what function each Relay coresponds to. Your local autoparts store (AutoZone) can test the Relay Switch, and you'll know (if any Relay) need to be replaced.

The CCM is also wired to the Steering Wheel, but first passes through the Clock Spring Coil, located just behind the Steering Wheel. The Clock Spring allowes for the Function Buttons on the Steering Wheel to have power while Steering Wheel spins.

The Clock Spring can malfunction or break, its rare, but this will cut power to the Function Buttons on Steering Wheel. If ALL the buttons on Steering Wheel dont work, then the Clock Spring is the Culprit. The Coil may need to be replaced.

The Cruise Control Module itself may have failed and also would cause a few or all Steering Wheel Functions to quit working.

But first check the Relay Switch Box and examine the Harness Cables connecting (Steering Wheel--to--CCM--to--Relay Switch Box--to--Battery Supply).

Also if Cruise Control was working before the new Horn was installed and now not working, then most likely the Problem is a bad wire connection somewhere and/or is a faulty Relay.

Need to locate the fuse for the horn

Take an electric meter and test the horn relay.
This part is found under the hood, inside the black plastic fuse/circuit breaker box.
God bless your efforts.

Why isn't horn working?

Before replacing the relay did you test ? You could have a clock spring problem . VEHICLE RELAYS Operation Diagnosis Do you know what a clock spring is ? I'm not saying that is the problem , it could be . A clock spring is a device with wire inside that allow the steering wheel to be turned from full left to full right keeping the air bag an cruise control an any other buttons on the steering wheel connected electrically , to wiring in the steering column . The wiring does fail inside the clock spring. How cars clock spring works

Horn and cruise control stop working

There is a device called a "clock spring" inside the steering wheel/column. It contains all the various wires to the buttons on the steering wheel. Sometimes these clock springs that wind and unwind every time the steering wheel is used simply wear out or break causing the problem you cite - no electricity gets to the buttons on the steering whell. Replacing the "clock spring" is mildly expensive. Parts and labor about 400-500 bucks.

My cruise control doesn't work??...any

jnjkingbird, It sounds like this problem is the clock spring as I don't believe that the horn and the cruise control would share a fuse. However, they do share a circuit in the clock-spring. You can check for power at each unit (horn and the cruise control) which would confirm this. Check each fuse as well. Good luck with this.

My 2003 Lincoln ls horn doesn't work

it may be your clock spring. if your fuses aren't blown try the clock spring. you can get the directions online and buy the part from the dealership. it takes maybe thirty minutes but saves you lots of money. another easy way to tell if it is the clock spring.....does your cruise control work? if not the clock spring is bad.

Horn and cruise don't work

The horn and cruise is activated through a clock spring switch assembly located under the steering wheel. Diagnosis is done by removing the steering wheel . It also controls the airbag electrical so use caution..
