Question about 1999 Infiniti.5 QX4

2 Answers

Two months ago, when I put the gear of my vehicle on drive (D) in the morning it takes so much throttling for a long time before the vehicle moves. It is now worse as the vehicle no longer move except you engage on (2) gear and drive for some time before engaging drive (D). Please can somone help with a solution. The P0110 code showed on the scanner and after replacing it, the vehicle idling improved but the code still shows even after clearing it. How do I solve this problem.

You are low on transmission fluid. Or your filter is clogged. If that\'s not it, then your tourque converter is bad. You need to check the fluid with the engine running. You add fluid the same place the tranny dipstick goes. Be sure to use fluid type for your vehicle. Check the owners manual.

Do you check it first? With the engine idling? Do you use the correct fluid? If yes, then I would pull the pan and replace the filter. If that doesn't fix it, then it is probably the tourque converter.

Just checked the fluid level with the engine idling and it is okay. I use the right fluid as specified by the manufacturer. Where is the location of the pan and the filter you mentioned

It sounds like low fluid level. Without adequate fluid level the pressures are not able to build up pressure.

The next step does sound like the torque converter as torino suggests. This acts as the "clutch" in that it transfers the energy from the motor to the gearbox and through the drive train. Automatic transmissions are quite complicated - small blockages in the valleys or other worn parts are just not likely to be solved without physical inspection - Check what you can without having to pull the box out such as cables etc...I wish I could be of more help

You're out of transmission fluid. Put in a quart where you pull the dip-stick out from and start the engine. Drive it a minute, check the fluid while running, put more in if needed.

Sounds as if forward driving gears are shot. Different gears make vehicle move in reverse. I would ask if transmission fluid level when checked is in the operation range or full.

The gear shift on my 1998 Lincoln Navigator is difficult to move out of park. It started about a month ago, when I tried to back out of my parking spot at home. Tonight, the vehicle died on me at a stop...

It can be either the shift cable or the Automatic parking brake release.
With your vehicle stalling it sounds like the parking brake release is leaking vacuum and causing stalling.

You can check with Autozone or Oreillys to see if there is an aftermarket part for that. Then locate the Auot release on your vehicle and when you take it off, slide the parts within the fixture to verify sticking.

Reverse Gear is Sluggish and makes noise.

I would say you should re check if you have 2nd and 4th. If not you need to have the sun shell replaced in the transmission. this is a comon problem. I hope this helps.

Probably low oil pressure in the transmission or worn clutches.
