Have codes coming up on my 88 plymouth sundance where can I find what they are?

The codes coming up are 33, 34, 51 & 55 on the '88 Sundance. It's my daughter's car and runs good when the throttle is down, but as soon as you release pressure on the throttle, it sputters and hesitates, although it keeps running. HELPPPP!!! Frustrating.

Do you know the codes or are you asking for help pulling the codes?  If you know the codes, go here to find out what they mean.  If you need to pull the codes, most auto parts stores will pull the codes for you for free.

Sounds like you need to check the O2 sensor and the MAP sensor.  According to this site, 33 = Air conditioning clutch relay circuit open or shorted (may be in the wide-open-throttle cutoff circuit).  This could also be thrown if there is no A/C in the car.  34 (1987-1991) speed control shorted or open.  51 Oxygen sensor stuck at lean position (Bob Lincoln wrote: may be tripped by a bad MAP sensor system causing a rich condition, and the O2 sensor trying to compensate. The O2 sensor may still be good. The MAP assembly consists of two pieces, the valve and the vacuum transducer (round plastic unit with cylinder on top and both electrical and vacuum connections) - If you get hot rough idle and stalling, especially on deceleration, accompanied by flooded engine and difficulty restarting, that can be a bad MAP sensor causing the O2 sensor to try to compensate. If you get poor cold driveability, stumbling and bucking, and acceptable warm driving with poor gas mileage (a drop of 10 mpg or more), that is usually the O2 sensor. [Webmaster note: MAP sensors seem to die regularly.] 55 End of codes.

Behind the dash. You will have to pull the whole dash assembly. It looks like a little radiator.

What code 44 on a plymouth sundance 1991

Generally speaking, code 12 means the battery has been disconnected at some point in time.
Code 44 means the battery temp sensor circuit is out of normal range, too high or too low.

88' sundance efi stalls at stop lights and signs, also when having to slow down to make a turn. seems to run fine all other times.

Remove and clean IAC ( idle air control ) motor and port it comes out of with throttle body spray cleaner , then retry it. If that cures it for a while and it starts to act up again, replace the IAC motor.motor1258_10.gif

1989 plymouth sundance obd1 code 11 car dies when warmed, restarts after cooling

The code 11 is referring to your coil pickup. This is located under the distributor cap and rotor, and is held in by the distributor cap itself.Being electrical when it gets hot the sensor brakes down .The pickup is not very expensive at all:)

I don't have a manual for the 1988 Plymouth Sundance, but I'll see what I can find.  You would replace it.  If you/your daughter plan to keep the car for a whle (and you plan to be her mechanic), I would recommend purchasing a Haynes manual for it.  As soon as my vehicles' warrantees expire, I buy the manuals. The MAP (Manifold Absolute Pressure) sensor is usually connect to the air duct near the intake manifold.  Looks like for your car they run from $40-$70, depending on your engine size and turbo or not.  Good luck!

94 Plymouth Sundance.. engine light and sluggish from dead stop! Help

What you do is turn the ignition to the "on" position and back to the "off" position 3 times. On the last "on/off" cycle, leave the key in "on". The check engine light will start flashing. The first group of flashes is the 1st number of the code. There will be a pause and then a 2nd set of flashes will be the 2nd number of the code. If there's more than one code, there will be a pause and then there will be another set of flashes for the next code and so on. A Haynes or Chilton's repair manual, available at any parts store, will tell you what the codes mean.
