SOURCE: timing belt broke while driving

Both the 1.6L and 1.9L engines are interference type and engine damage will most likely occur if the belt breaks while the engine is running. There is a VERY slim chance that the valves may have escaped being damaged if the they happened to stop in the perfect spot but I've only seen one of these break a belt and not suffer damaged valves. Good luck, hope this helps!

SOURCE: Parking brake - 1990 Ford Escort Lx

check whether the handbrake cable is working or not. Jack it up on stands and pull handbrake. then the wheel which is the problem strip it and check it inside even asking someone slowly slowly to pull the hand brake and watch to see what is working and what is not, probably the retainers are not working or no collect thickness of brake shoes etc.

Got a 95 ford escort lx hatchback has a squeaking noise only when turning left and pushing the gas?

This can be a C-V joint or hub bearing. If your style of front strut has a tower bearing, that's another possibility.

Timing belt broke while driving will there be more damage ? it's a 1990 ford escort lx hatchback

All really depends how fast you was going when it snapped, the best thing to do is try turning the engine over slowly by hand to see if it moves freely and nothing is banging or knocking, if that is successful then you can try and just put a new belt on and see if it fires up and runs smooth,, but to be honest the chances of doing internal damage is imminent, could be cracked head bent valves ect but i would try the belt first before you start dismantling anything
Hope this helps

I need to install a block heater in my 97 ford escort LX. What type of block heater do I need and are there instructions on how to install it?

A block heater usually is installed in place of a freeze plug. I have seen some that go into the lower radiator hose.... Be sure to pressure test the system when you finish.

Fuel cut off switch for 1990/91 ford escort 1.9

The "inertia switch" which shuts off fuel to the engine in the event of a collision or jolt on a 1991 through 1996 models, as well as on 1998 coupes, is located in the rear of the vehicle, near the right (passenger's side) strut tower. On sedan and coupe models, open the trunk and remove the right-sided trim panel. On sedan and coupe models, open the trunk and remove the right-side trim panel. On hatchback and wagon models, there may be an access door secured by clips. On some models you may need to remove the lower quarter trim panel on the right side, however it is easier to cut an access hole directly above the switch.
