Car will just quit while driving. It will immediately restart by turning ignition switch off and engaging starter. Kind of like re booting a computer. Any ideas as to problem?

SOURCE: electronic chip in key

As far as bypassing the securtiy chip, we can't tell you that one as it would assist any user on here to steal your car (or others).
When you turn the key to attempt to start it do the dash lights dim or even go out ?

Do you have a Chip in the Key? if so that Could be the Problem,Ya see the chip is a resistor and if it looses its ELECTRONIC VALUE in its Case Resistance it wont start to test this Turn the Key in the ON posission then do the Screwdriver thing If it Starts Key is Good and Most Likely the Ignition (SWITCH) is Bad <<ELECTRICAL Side NOY LOCKEST SIDE For More Info Recontact Me

SOURCE: 1995 Buick LeSabre - Stalls then restarts while driving

Has the fuel filter been chg. lately. If it has, maybe a fuel pressure test is in order. Fuel pump might be geeting weak and does not show up until it gets warmed up. Fuel pumps are a common problem on this type of cars.

So the problem has been occuring for a year and you are just now trying to fix it? Sorry, I just simply do not understand why people do this...keep driving it until it won't drive anymore even though you KNOW it has a problem....Maybe you can explain this to me???

If you can hear the starter clicking when you try to start it, then you have a bad starter. If it makes no noise at all. then you most likely have a bad clutch switch.

Starter wont engage, jumped starter with key on but dies immediately. repaced ignition switch and starter relay. even tried 2 extra spare keys. security light is flashing

This is a pretty common problem on GM vehicles. This is what is happening. Your vehicle has switched itself into ANTITHEFT mode. In most GM cars and trucks there is a hidden system that most people are unaware even exists. From the moment you put your key in the ignition, there begins a constant line of communication between your key's security chip to the ignition's lock cylinder, and then to the car's TDM. These 3 parts are in CONSTANT communication. If the key is in the ignition, these parts are sending signals to each other. The security light illuminates when that signal gets broken, even just for a second. When the signal breaks, the car goes into antitheft mode. The car thinks its being stolen or hotwired because it is not getting that signal from YOUR specific key. There is where the security light turns on and shuts down your vehicle.

1993 Buick cuts off while driving and will not crank for 5 minutes. The car will easily restart after it has set for about 5 minutes but cuts off again after about 30 seconds. It does not run rough at any...

This sounds like a problem with the ignition interlock system. This system uses a chip in the ignition key to tell the computer it is the right key in the ignition, and allows the starter to engage. If the key switch is worn out, or the key itself, the vibration from driving can jar the key in the ignition and cause the computer to shut the ignition off. If the key and switch are tight and have no play, there could be a glitch in the computer. You can have this checked by a good auto technician shop. GOODLUCK!

Turn the key on and the lights radio fuel pump everything comes on but it will not crank, replaced neutral switch, checked ignition switch, hot wire to relay center under hood, if you jump out the starter...

Sounds like the starter solinoid especialy if the starter works when you jump it. I dont know if you can buy just a solinoid for that particular car, but its a cheap place to start if you can. If not you should be able to get a whole remaned starter for around a hundred bucks. Hope this helps.

I have a 1998 Buick LeSabre when I start the car it sounds like the car is still trying to start. When I but it into reverse or drive it will stop. I turned the key with out starting the car and ran...

the neutral switch is to prevent the starter from engaging if not in park or neutral - try just bumping the key switch without holding it - the key lock or ignition switch could be keeping power on starter or the starter solenoid could be keeping the starter engaged someone would have to be under the car listening or touching the starter to see this or measuring voltage on solenoid wire

Starts, then quits after 2 or 3 seconds

If the engine keeps running when the starter is kept engage, it is an ignition switch problem but in this case it looks to me as an ECM problem.

Starts but quits as soon as key returns to run position.

My bet is that you have an open the fuel pump run circuit or the vacuum switch. Most GMs have a vacuum switch to 'see' the engine running and reduce pressure by cutting voltage. However, if your car has a turbo or supercharger, they use a relay that 'flips' to a resistive line which then cuts the power level to the pump. Get a good model-specific diagram and check it out.
