Question about 2000 Nissan Maxima

1 Answer

My 2000 Nissan Maxima will not start-no clicking, just dead. The battery was tested and is good.

Car has been starting fine, and suddenly quit starting. Jumping did not help at all. There seems to be no power. Lights, heat, panel lights work.

You probably need a new starter. Try locating the starter and hit on it 2 or 3 times, then try starting the vehicle again......If it starts then you need a new starter.

SOURCE: nissan 2000 ac hot when idle

the a/c condenser has a fan in front ( there is actually 2 fans if you sit on the car it will be fan on right side ) if this fan does not
come on immediately when you are parked and engine in idle
there is a problem with power to it, or motor failure. If you drive it
on the highway and a/c operates fine that's because air is circulating though condenser (thats what the fan is supposed to do at idle or slow traffic)

check first the ground connections and the terminals if they are loose. Check also the starter relay and its cables. Have the starter capacitor checked. If that does not resolve it go to the starter motor and have it checked.

Battery appears dead when I try to start it. Battery still has a charge but when I try to start the car is behaves" like its dead. New battery... starter or alternator?

Have you actually tested the battery? Or do you just assume that because the headlights and such turn on the battery is good. You need to have the battery load tested at a parts store if you do not have the test equipment. Next thing is to make absolutely certain the terminals are spotlessly clean and free of corrosion. These are just the basics and there are many other things that could cause the car not to start.. (alarm system, factory security system. Bad ignition switch, faulty starter... further diagnosis is needed

Stop by any good parts store (Autozone, Advance, etc..) and have them test your charging system and load test your battery. I think you'll find your answer between those two tests.

I just had the transmission replaced on my 2000 Maxima and the check engine light would come on and go off occassionally. Today the car will not start, like the battery is dead. Is this all a coincidence?...

well you will have to check battery, if it is dead, then see if any thing was left on,if nothing was on then have your charging system checked, if battery tests good then check connections. may be bad starter or battery,or loose conn, check engine light you have to have computer scaned to remove codes, then you can see if its due to trany job or coincidence, good luck.

Please check for loose ground wires. You should see these wires connected to the engine and the body of the car. There are several of them. Check each of them. You may also want to check the cables to the ignition coil or the ignition coil if it is working
