If you turned the motor backwards and then tried to start belt could have jumped this is a interferance motor which means the valves overlap the pistons ! you could have bent the valves.take it back to the person who did your timing belt

Hi Gurus, My 4JX1 engine is vibrating on idle. Idle speed is about 750rpm. At hgher speed the engine runs smooth. The problem is the engine dies off in the middle of driving. Sometimes it will start again...

Are you running the recommended oil grade? As the injection system is operated by engine oil pressure using the wrong oil grade can prevent your car from starting, running smooth or hard starting! Ideally they require a 5W30 oil grade. Idle speed is controlled by the engine control unit! It's a common rail diesel engine so there's nothing to adjust! The Camshaft position sensor could also possibly be intermittently faulting causing similar symptoms! It's located on the front of the cambelt cover(gray coloured sensor)

I have had a new cambelt it is not running as

it might be that the timing is out, even if it is out by 2 teeth on the cams or the crank wheel, it will make the car run rough, i think you better get the timing checked out as this could cause dammage if set wrong, it could have been so far out it might have bent a valve slightly this also could give you bad running...sorry to be bad news, hope this helps

Cam shaft timming marks 1999 Daewoo 1.6 liter

there is a special tool to hold gears in correct place on some of these models, but you can hold one cam at a time with a spanner then feed belt on exhaust cam then inlet cam gear
get someone to hold gears in place while you feed belt on.
the inlet cam is more prone to turn off mark more than exhaust.
if you have tensioner that needs retaining pin in when installing
you fit belt while aligning timming marks
fit tensioner as last spot to feed belt on with retaining pin in adjuster
get correct tension on belt by turning water pump so that you can flex (turn) belt 90 degrees only just while using finger and thumb
tighten water pump check flex
check all timing marks are correct
remove retaining pin from auto tensioner
turn motor over a couple of turns by hand observing tensioner arrow should hover around V mark and that all timing marks align up again(after one complete turn)

Timing belt not turning

a stripped group of cogs on timming belt is most likely ur problem,a new timming belt may not solve ur problem, this is a interference engine ,u may have bent vavles, install timming belt and if it runs, and runs smooth and got plenty of power, then u will be ok

Motor hesitation only when it is cold once engine is warmed up engine runs smooth. Motor hitches terrible until tempature comes up too normal operating temperature. Once engine is warm it runs perfect,...

It might be your ECT sensor (engine coolant temperature sensor). Usally you can mesure the resistance and the voltage of the ECT sensor. You need a chart which says the Resistance versus the Temperature versus Voltage. EXEMPLE : at 120celsius, voltage should 0,27volts and the resistance should be 1,18Kohms ...etc. (this is only an exemple)

Brake and gas pedals

The vehicle has a optional adjustable brake to increase driver comfort. The brake pedal position is changed in phase with the accelerator pedal. The system is adjusted by pressing the dash-mounted switch that powers the driver motor mounted on the accelerator pedal assembly. The two-way motor operates backward (away from the driver) or forward (toward the driver) to adjust the accelerator pedal directly and the brake pedal through the drive cable attached to the brake pedal assembly.
