Re: cruise control wont work 94 buick pa
Open driver door, on the side of the dash, there is a panel door, fuses are behind that. If the fuse is good and that unit is vacuum operated, check the vacuum hose from the unit to the vacuum source for cracks and a brittle hose. The diaphram in the unit could be also be bad or the switch. Without testing it is hard to pin point.

Go online to Autozone.com and register your car for free wiring diagrams and fusebox layouts. Then look to see how the Cruise control is fused. It may just need a new fuse.
There are some Cruise units which work with Vacuum. For those you need to apply Vacuum to see if the diaphragm is sealed or leaking.
The rest of the controls are pretty simple. Everything under the hood my be fine and the problem may be in the activation switch. The off and on control may simply not be turning the Cruise on. DO NOT HOT WIRE THE CRUISE UNIT. It needs to shut off with sensing the Brake pedal and the normal power feed needs to cut off.
Now Salvage parts work well for this kind of repair as long as the car was not front end collided in an accident. You can also scarf up extra mounting hardware in case you drop something. The stalk controls on the column are a mixed matter. Some Salvage yards want to sell the entire steering column as a unit, some will sell the stalk controls, steering wheel, etc. piece by piece.
Carparts.com is a collection of networked Salvage yards which ship to your door. They show the parts beforehand, rate condition, and show prices all for you to select. Some have warranties.
You should probably trace the wiring to see if the Cruise unit is getting power. If the power is reaching the box and pod under the hood and then not working, it is probably your problem.
well thats a little involved for being a older vehicle. look for broken vacuum lines and bad fuses. also check the tension on the electrical connections. some might be loose from corrosion. what all does it do ? does it not come on at all?
check for a fuse,i believe its by the drivers side door in the dash, then check if there is vacumm going to the cruise control, check to make sure the brake light isnt staying on,check to see if the linkage is still hooked up,and try wiggling the on\off switch back and forth(slide switch)..it could be a bad switch which the turn signal switch is on the same setup,or the cruise unit under the hood.
no not a fuse may be the switch itself this is common and parts are not badly priced. replace the switch. It just pops out. The directions will tell you to take out the airbag first but it will sneek out of there.
