Question about 2012 Acura TSX Base Sedan 2.4L 4-cyl. 5-speed Automatic

Open Question

I have a 2012 Acura TSX. Problem is when I go to start the car while turning the key I hear a buzzing sound and the car will not start. Turn the key again and no problem it starts. The tech that checked it out said that I am turning the key too slow. I guess at the age of 50 I don't know how to start a car. So now I turn it faster if that is possible, and guess what - the problem is still there. Now this only happens like 2x a month but I am concerned that it may not start one of these days. Could this be a bad relay, starter or something else?

SOURCE: Car won't start

First off is their any corrosion around your battery terminals. A yellow white or light blue foam powdery substance. If so you can get some Battery terminal cleaner from a auto part store or you can use Coke to clean it. Pour some coke on the corrosion wipe it off take the wire off clean it and the post. The scuff up the inside of the connector with sand paper.

Then like dj said test the starter. If it is good I would check the grounding wires and the power wires. Get the ground to the batter take the bolt out and tighten it back down agen. Scuff up the surface with some sand paper. Also make sure your battery terminals are tight. If you can grab the power or ground wire and turn it around the terminal take the wire off scuff it up with some sand paper and tighten it.

SOURCE: my 1988 acura integra has a problem I start my

Its indication towards faulty fuel pump. The pump has low pressure. Its taking time to flow fuel to the engine.---------As per your problem mentioned, it indicates the problem with fuel pressure.-------- The fuel pressure is low.---------- First thing you can do is get the fuel pressure checked, this will confirm the problem. --------- If the pressure checked low that means problem is with faulty pump and clogged fuel filter. -------- But if pressure checked ok, then fuel pump relay has to be checked. The relay is actually not faulty, sometimes relay gets hot and stops functioning. So it may show proper voltage if checked by meter. You try bypassing the relay with a jumper and checked. If the car, starts runs properly , that means relay is faulty. After you by pass the relay, drive the car few miles then wait for 10 minutes, then again start the car, if it starts that means relay is the issue.Replace the relay. The fuel pump relay located in engine compartment fuse box under the hood.------------- But if problem is same as before after by passing the relay, then relay is not the issue.----------

If the fuel pressure is checked ok, then other possibility is faulty o2 sensor and crank sensor. The o2 sensors are before and after catalytic converter.-------Both the sensors are to be replaced.------ And as per you mentioned your problem, its quite possible that faulty o2 sensor will cause this problem.------ O2 sensor is the part which sends signal to ECM( the cars computer). It sends signal to computer about fuel / air mixture. How and when to send fuel to engine.--------- If o2 sends stops sending signal to cars computer then it will not send the fuel to engine.------- In your case the o2 sensor is getting overheated and this is stopping the o2 sensor from sending signal to ECM.But when your car shuts off the sensor gets cool and again it starts working.------ So as per problem, get both the o2 sensors checked and replaced.---------- Also get the crank sensor checked.------------- Also get the throttle body and IAC valve cleaned.------ The idle air control valve is also located at throttle body.Clean both throttle body and IAC valve with throttle cleaner.--------This will help.Thanks.Helpmech.

It may be because the engine is not getting all the fuel it needs when the tank is low due to a faulty fuel pump or fuel injectors. More diagnostic tools for car @

Hi, this sounds like the starter solenoid, but on your car the solenoid is integrated with the starter motor assembly. You will need to remove the starter and have it tested at your local parts chain.

If you have the proper equipment, you can test at home as indicated below. Please let me know if you have questions, and thanks for using FixYa.
