SOURCE: AUDI A4 AUTOMATIC SLOW TO

Not overly familiar with Audis but it sounds like either a.) you have an electronic tranny that has a serious bug or b.) there's a problem in the computer of the car itself. What is sounds like is the car is taking a long time to "understand" that you're telling it to move forward. How new is the car? When you push on the gas before the three minutes, what happens?

SOURCE: 1991 Caprice No reverse. Moves in neutral. All forward gears OK.

What engine? Rear wheel drive ?Sounds like shift linkage or cable out of adjustment slightly. Have a look at where cable or rod attaches to transmission for adjustment. If not sure of what your looking for get back to me with info.

Why will a car vibrate while acclarting

Does it do it forward and reverse? Power brake it. Put it in reverse and hold the brake so the car doesn't move. Give it some gas. No vibration. Do it in drive, if the vibration comes in, then you have a bad engine or transmission mount. The rear mounts are bad in drive. Those are the fun ones to replace. Could be other problems also(to include transmission). You didn't give year make and model.

Why would a vehicle in reverse move forward

The question is a little vague but I think I know what your referring to. All modern automatic transmissions have torque converters. This is the device that connects the engine to the transmission. All vehicle manufacturers like the trans to be nice and smooth shifting. That's great but it does come with some minor drawbacks. If you are facing slightly down hill and you put your car in reverse but do not step on the gas slightly I can guarantee that you will indeed roll forward. You can eliminate that issue by holding your left foot on the brake while you shift into reverse. Then, as soon as you feel the trans engage, gently depress the gas pedal with your right foot and it will eliminate that forward roll problem.

I have 1992 ford f 150 4x4 that wants to die in drive or reverse but idles fine.

If you can put it in drive and give it throttle to make it move, and it moves forward, then your idle is just too low. If you give it throttle and it will not move, like the brakes are locked, then you have a bad torque converter.

What do you mean it "kinda budge" when you hold the gas down all let off the clutch? To get better answers ask better questions ...When you put it in drive, you mean put it in first gear? Does the clutch slip when you take off or give it gas while you are driving? Will the transmission shift through all the forward gears?

Well you mean it doesn't even move forward ? and i would advice you to check the oil level and try to have the filter changed and put in new fluid again and this might solve your problem. and if dont work then you try to get a transmission for a junk yard for cheap, Around $150/$200 and have your Mechanic( friend) put it in.lol

Good luck bro

While backing up I lose power steering

could be your transmission mount is broken, when you put your engine in reverse.. with out giving it gas does the power steering work? More than likely when you are giving it gas you are apply torque to the engine and it is moving so much that you are twisting the drive axles and putting pressure on your front suspension. open the Hood and set you remergency brake and have someone put the car in reverse,,, if the engine moves significantly then that is your problem.. you will need to replace all three mounts for the engine and transmission.
