Question about 1998 Volvo S70

1 Answer

Alarm system I have a 1998 Volvo S70 2.4 turbo and I have an alarm system problem. Fantastically crappy vehicle with crappy alarm system. The car is protected by the factory alarm system up to the door or hood open situation. The vehicle is not protected for motion movement or glass crush (window brake). Hard to believe - (name "VOLVO") the FORD totally disgrace the name to the minimal level of thinking about name VOLVO and VOLVO let it to happened. Ever in my life I will purchase VOLVO again. For 10 years I had Volvo 740 turbo. It was unbreakable vehicle. Never I had any problems beside timing belt which quit on me during driving at 60 km/hr. I fixed it by my self and I was driving happily for next many years. This one created so many problems no one could believe. In this vehicle I had to replace engine because on cylinder #4 piston ring was made from bad material and tiny piece of the ring created big scratch on cylinder surface. My car started burning oil, lots of oil. Specially when I was idling at the intersection. Many shops I was asking for help and no one could tell me what the problem was. I decided engine to replace. Some of the plastic tubes I replaced with copper because the plastic ones bin cracking like a dry paper. Several days ago I was hit by someone. I was sitting then meters from vehicle and I did not know by whom because my alarm system did not indicated any problems. Fantastic vehicle but alarm system is a creep. The vehicle alarm system has no motion sensor. The viring and plug is there but no sensor - do you believe it? No motion sensor on VOLVO car. The individual who damaged my vehicle escape so now I have to pay for the damage. Today I asked VOLVO dealer haw much it will cost if I would like to install sensors. I got the answer ($945.00) but VOLVO stopped to supply parts for this vehicle alarm system so I can not have a chance to protect my vehicle against the problem I had. I asked the Audio and Alarm shop haw much it will cost for sophisticated alarm system and installation on my fantastically crappy S70 VOLVO. I got answer (~$450) to scrap my existing alarm and installation of new sophisticated alarm system. Now I'm waiting for the moment when my VOLVO S70 will be damage so bad so I never again will have a chance to by VOLVO car. Years ago I had a TELEFUNKEN radio build in 1938. The radio quit on me in 1974. I asked TELEFUNKEN for parts I needed. They send the parts and they never asked for payment. Do you believed? The comments I will live for you. Happy New Year to VOLVO Dion Wierzbicki

I first bought a 1990 volvo turbo 760. I ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS VEHICLE! it was rear wheel drive and VERY easy to work on. it was a BLAST to drive and blow 5.0 mustangs off the road with a 4 cyllinder. I loved driving that car so much I bought a 1998 S70 Volvo (kept the 760 model). turns out I paid ALOT MORE for just another toyota camary with a Volvo nameplate. I didnt keep it long. it just wasnt the same. the interior started falling apart from day one.
I know the dissapointment... if it were me I would not spend any money on the alarm system. but if I did I would get the aftermarket version installed.
PLEASE dont let the timing belt break on this car!!!!! it wont be the same as your old one! it will be $4000 damage to the engine if it breaks. change it out early!
