SOURCE: will the car stay running if the batterie is disconected

It should stay running. If your alternator is bad it may not stay running but in all cases it should stay running.

SOURCE: Car stops in the middle. It drains out battery

Need to have your charging system checked, output voltage can be okay but your amp output is probably low, that or a bad battery is the only thing that will cause your battery drain while driving

Hooked up my new battery backwards, blew the main fuse. It has been replaced and now the meter fuse in the inside fuse box blows within seconds and gage cluster and alternator not working

Could have damaged regulator. When the car is running have you checked the voltage at battery terminals. If battery is charging it should be around 14 volts. If around 12 your charging system is fubar.

Meanwhile if you have to charge the car every day then something in the car is draining the battery, Using an ammeter you need to track it down, Hook it up to battery and pull fuse out one at a time till the drain goes down. That isolates the circuit with the problem.

My car drains my battery and the alternator is good

Something is staying on while its not running, could be a light somewhere that should be off thats not. With a good alternator and a brand new battery there should be no reason for the battery to just die within a day unless something is staying on. Pin point what is staying on and we can go from there

You have what is called a "parasitic drain" that is draining the battery on your car while is not running. Something is staying on after you turn the key off, it could be any number of things, from a stuck relay to a trunk light staying on that slowly drains the battery. A parasitic drain test will need to performed to determine the cause so repairs can be made....Here is a link that explains how to do this test....Make sure your battery is fully charged before starting this test. Also, after you disconnect the battery cable, wait 15-20 minutes before starting the test...this allows any capacitors to drain and not give a false reading...
Good luck, i hope this helps.

if the battery cable end have corosion on them the current is not able to charge battery. If you put a multimeter on volts dc 20volts and the car is running and charging properly, the meter should read approx. 14.73 volts. Clean the inside of the cable ends, and the posts on the battery with a wire brush, then coat all of them with some vaseline. Hook them up and tighten. If that doesn't work you will probably need the diagram, to trace a dead short.
